Modern Warfare Mod brings World in Conflict from the Cold War into the Modern Age. It also ups the ante on realism and authenticity in every role – Infantry, Armor, Support and Air, while trying our best to keep everything relatively balanced for fun and interesting gameplay.

Would it be possible to have an EMP (EletroMagnetic Pulse)added into the mod?

Probably not, as no such weapons exist in practice, other than experiments.

Also, most Military Equipment are already protected against the small scale EMP bursts that can be generated by a Reasonably sized Non-Nuclear EMP (NNEMP). You have to detonate a pretty big Thermonuke in order to get the EMP effect needed to start destroying Military Electronics.

Yeah the main problem with this is that we are basing this mod on equipment available TODAY.
I'm guessing you saw an EMP in the call of duty game "modern warfare 2", but ironically, it was set in 2016.

Nothing like that really exists today that could actually be used on a battlefield. And anyways, creating one powerful enough to disable something like a tank, would require a hell of a lot of energy. Not even solar waves can disable tanks, they only get exposed wires with electricity flowing in them.

And even in COD MW2, the EMP wave was generated by air-burst detonation of thermonuclear warhead, not a specialized EMP device.

No i wasn't talking about the MW2 EMP. I was just asking because it is/was one of the most feared weapons since everything we use today is electronically operated and that can devastate a country if it is used on them.

But such weapon does not exist, at all.

Such a weapon would not be effective against Military Applications.

Against civil? Yes. Detonating a large Nuke in space could potentially black an entire nation out.

The issue is, the ability to destroy MilTech Electronics is not here in applicable forms, because too much energy is required unless you go Nuclear, which is asking for a couple hundred ICBMs up your ass.

The only fear surrounding an EMP burst is kept within the minds of the uneducated and the ignorant. The dangers of an EMP burst have been known since 1945 and as such, many military grade electronics are resistant to such occurrences and almost all modern civilian electronics have secondary backup units kept offline or spare parts on hand to replace damage.

This is in addition to the fact that EMP's are a chaotic phenomenon and not (as yet) a controllable occurence, since the EMP effect can only be generated in areas with a strong magnetic field, the perfect altitude and a long list of many other variables.

In short, outside of at least another hundred years worth of scientific research and the unexplainable stop of electronics research (note that electronics research would be necessary in the research of EMP phenomenon), such a wild and random occurrence will not have the doomsday effect the uneducated masses claim, will not be seen in any practical form, and will certainly not be wielded as a weapon.

Unless the focus (and name) of the mod is changed from "Modern Warfare" to "Warfare of the Future" - this is never going to happen.
