Modern Warfare Mod brings World in Conflict from the Cold War into the Modern Age. It also ups the ante on realism and authenticity in every role – Infantry, Armor, Support and Air, while trying our best to keep everything relatively balanced for fun and interesting gameplay.

Okay, I know this is another rhetorical ask for help issue with installing MW mod for XP, but seriously leaving it up
to the user by themselves to install is not gonna help or leaving other XP users who have the same problem is not
gonna have this solved by itself. The whole installation by the user is kinda technical but not easy and definitely not user friendly
if somebody out there does not know how programs works or how to classify what they are. A proper tutorial on installing files
that deals with multiple programs is much appreciated for future for those darn "wannabe programmers, otherwise bringing back the XP installer would be best recommended and user friendly so the mod itself is accessible to all! What game companies out there would ask their own customers to self install files manually without an installer? The same goes for this mod, how much time and effort applied with quality into making this mod should equally address the problem of installation. After all its not something as complex as fixing the tank fire bug but a simple installer! To all XP users out there wanting to install this, installing this mod manually is a little bit of a mission but a simple installer would be better so nobody would go out of their way and maybe not even get the mod to work!

Modern Warfare Mod 2 is moving to support new standards and features that XP does not.

We have choosen specifically not to support an 11 year old operating system because the features that are being added, and will be added in future versions of MW Mod, may not be fully compatible with it.

Another huge problem is just the installer itself. On Windows Vista and 7 mods will always be in \Users\Public\Documents\World in Conflict\

On Windows XP its in a location "most" of the time, but many times WiC is looking for it somewhere else. Frustrating for installers and users.

Therefore we are not going to say "Sorry, we can't help you as you're on Windows XP." as a response to 500 different "OMG IT DON'T WORK" posts. Instead we've just dropped support.

We have left the manual install option so that our Windows XP players may choose to install the mod if they're confident enough- but seriously if you're a gamer then what are you doing with an 11 year old relic of an operating system still?

It can work fine, especially if you go around and install a custom (hacked version), where all the random and useless stuff is removed.

But then the person who bothered with such things should be able to install mod with ease.

The real rationale behind dropping XP is because of FLINT missile system -- we're more or less developing new features under DirectX 10/11 reference.

Plus, installer headaches too as Heaney mentioned.

guess my system is showing a bit for its age, but XP its so ubiquitous to many users that leaving them without a proper walk through steer away people from downloading. Does anyone got the money for top end systems out there? Only the few who has time and money will have newer systems such as Vista or Window 7 even a dedicated power supply and maxed out graphics and ram not to mention an awesome computer! I would not be surprised if there still many who have XP and kinda be pissed that this mod is now tougher to work it out. I have it already installed with trouble in screwing around or a little trial and error, any way the point is that anyone I'm concerned for who has XP will have taken a while before the mod works or have not figured it out at all. A simple instruction to install manually for XP users will be appreciated if installers are difficult enough.

Windows 7 is £70, not exactly expensive.

Niether of us said anything about getting a new PSU or graphics card. As long as you have Windows Vista or 7 and your PC can maintain 35 frames per second on MW Mod, you're fine.

at heany:
Its two hundred dollars plus and if you do not have a good computer it won't work properly! Another 100$ plus! My computer will operate well beyond 35 frames and it operates in XP. I kinda feel sorry for those who still dont get to install this mod. A nice guide can work out though.

As stated before, primary reason for dropping XP support is because we're moving exclusively to DirectX 10 & 11 for FLINT and fixed-wing aviation developments. While XP will still technically work with DX9, we no longer have the urge nor care to QA-test everything to support a 10-years old operating system. This is why we have dropped support for it, while allowing computer-savvy users to still install the mod on XP, if they choose to.

MW Mod is practically WiC 2.0, and every modern games out there today (such as Battlefield 3) no longer even bother supporting XP. So I'm sorry to say, but we won't change our decision to drop XP from being supported going forward.

Is there an archive where you can download the older versions? Since 2.0.1 worked fine for WinXP.
