Fallout 2-Wasteland Merc mod
Features:13 custom locations, custom weapons, custom missions and dialogs and more. This is not an add-on, it is a campaign on its own.
Installation: backup your fallout 2.exe and "fallout 2/data" folder and replace them with ones that come with this mod. And you are ready to go. Also if patch000 file exist in your folder rename it to something else or move it to another folder. We are aware that there might be some minor bugs in the mod and we will fix those if we ever make an update for this mod.
What mod is about: In this mod you are not the chosen or vault dweller but a simple mercenary warrior that goes around in wasteland looking for missions/jobs. All missions/jobs are redo-able and are intended to be done several times. If you come to a town and nobody seems to be willing to talk to you that means your not high enough level to get that mission. Than usually they will tell you to get bent or come back when your better in various ways.

But its still fun to read and well written. It works a bit like a walktrough/spoiler. So do not read it if you still plan on playing the mod.

What dna give?
In most cases when it acts like that its not installed right. Reinstall entire mod and try again. Make sure patch000.dat is removed from fallout 2 folder to.
I've zipped the files to my fallout map n **** but when I then click the wasteland icon it says "couldn't find/load text fonds" what have I done wrong? :S
iinstalled the mod and the screen says wasteland merc 2 but everything else is the same... help

its not bad at all for a first mod. Obviously, the first one is always not as good as the second one, but no complaints.
To bad its souch a tedious work for moding fallout 2. Or i would be making more of these mods. They are really fun to play but your forced to program them with compilers and map editors that where created for profesional game makers back in 96. So when you finish a mod you dont feel like making a new one for a long time. Plus there is no source code released so you have to work around alot of hard coded stuff. Sure there are some patches that brake those hard coded things by altering .exe file but i dont dare to use those in fear of getting sued.
Looks grwat. I gotta re-install fallout for this but I'll do so :) great job.
I'm a big fan of Fallout games myself, I have all of'em (some twice or three times, in different languages and boxes) :D
Just dont forget to start playing with expansion for this mod called black market. It balances the mod out and fixes bounch of bugs. Without expansion its pretty much beta verion of the mod.
