These look pretty good. But with so many weapon ports to emit graphical particles from, will the Nexus: TJI 1 engine handle these and other Battlefleet Gothic small craft well?

There will be some compromises but we will try to do our best about it.

Well, it's something I'm very much looking forward to seeing. Did you model this just from the photos on the Forge World website or did you actually have one on hand to model from? The model itself doesn't show much in the form of maneuvering thrusters.

Are those missiles on the wings going to detach when fired? Or are those just going to be treated as extra fuel tanks?

Nexus:TJI does not have animation for detaching missiles. Maybe Nexus 2 can bring this option.

As for the model, you must way for Teliri to answer this question for you.

thunderbolt is not able to fly in space, its an atmospheric fighter, thus the intakes.

Canonically it can. Maybe the Forge World miniature developers just decided to always model the "in-atmosphere" version. But yes, many Forge World models that can supposedly fly in both space and in atmosphere within the game rules lack maneuvering thrusters or the like on the models themselves that would allow for effective, controlled flight in a vacuum. Maybe the (EXCELLENT) modellers for this mod will add those visual features to the models themselves?

Thunderbolt is primarily in-atmospheric fighter that is true. However, it is also capable to operate in space but its maneuverability is very restricted there. As Mazryonh said, we can always do slight changes on this matter and call it as some different pattern of it with more space combat features.
