Victoriously Enhanced Max Payne 2 v1.2
Jan 8, 2013 Full Version 7 commentsThis is the latest version of my VEMP2 mod. This new version will take care of CTD issues and add more polish to this mod. This will more then likely...
This mod will reinvent MP2 into what I've wanted it to be. Armed with a giant Katana and a new Gunslinger fighting style, Max Payne 2 will never be the same.

Both videos can be found on youtube.com and they are both full of action.

Is your mp2 patched up?
Do you have a data folder in your mp2 directory?
Do other mods work with your mp2?
Um there's a lot of things in this mod that make it feel like it doesn't know what it wants to be.
PROS:
- Much more detailed weapons and characters.
- New weapon sounds.
- New blood effects.
- Fun slow-mo kill cams.
CONS:
- Weird and unfitting Anime/Manga sword and powers.
- Drug out death screams.
- Dodging moves are much too long.
- Focus meter depletes rather quickly.
- Red filter in parts.
- Sword does not dismember or cause cuts on people.
It's exactly what it wants to be. Something fun and different and out of the norm for Max Payne. And make sure you know what limits come with modding the Max Payne 2 engine before you point out things like cut marks on people from katana slashes. Not possible unless it's faked, and that too is very limited.
I've got some new katana fighting animations from Kung Fu Evolution, but sadly I do not have enough to make my Fatality System. So I've replaced the less pro looking katana animations with some from KFE and it looks much better. I'm also adding in some gore features from Payne Effects to enhance the blown up skin effects for baddies, and I've fixed the use Painkiller animation to allow you to be able to move around as you use them.
I'm working on another updated version of this mod that will fix the CTD bug when trying to load the "Mob War" map. It will also smooth out the flying forward shootdodge animation and it will change the painkiller use animation so that Max doesn't crouch down when he takes them. He will be able to run or jump while he takes the pills. I've also been able to increase the stability of the game greatly by removing the physics enhanced shell casings. Working on my Gungrave mod has taught me that less is more, and by doing this those people who had CTD caused by a combination of extreme physics use and complex PFX in this mod should not have those problems anymore. I know that this update should have come out a while back but I was certain that VS2.0 would be released and it did not. Then I thought surely they would at least release their animations to the public for use in other mods so that I could add my Fatality system into this mod, but they never did nor will they. So I'm gonna go ahead and release this update as is. I hope it helps anybody that could not play my mod because of the random CTD.
I honestly don't know what could be causing that. Try reinstalling the mod or your copy of MP2.
