UT40K: The Chosen Although 40K players and other Mod Teams may not have herd about us, we have in fact been going on, for quite a while. The fact that a ModDB page was never set up for us has only just been brought to light. We are a small but dedicated team, devoted to bringing the universe of Games Workshops Warhammer 40,000 to it's full glory, using the UT3 engine. While we have been toiling in the shadows, we have actually managed to release a Number of Public Betas over the last year and improve on them with each upgrade. We are devoted to remaining as close to the publish code rules as we possibly can, to the point where we have implemented both the JAM system, for the Terminator Assault Cannon, and a fully functional vehicle damage system, complete with Front, Side and Rear armour values and features all of the ways of disabling a vehicle (e.g. Crew Stunned, Weapon Destroyed, Immobilised and all the others) We have two mostly functional races available; The Imperium's...

Hey guys i recently started up work on my Calderis map set again, and had a few questions.

I have modeled the civilian dome house and the guardhouse in proportion with the player model that comes with the UDK(eg import into the UDK to check door width and height etc). My worries were what if our models are bigger than the UDK player model, will my buildings still be the right size? So if say the space marine model we have is bigger than the UDK player model, he might not fit into the building. Will this be a problem?

Also, on the subject of scale, ive noticed some of the tyranid, ork, eldar and chaos models have some 'excessivly large decoration bits,' such as the spikes protruding from the haos lord' back. Will these be a problem for collision, or will these decoration parts have no collision to avoid this problem? The same thing with the tryanids with large claws or tails...

keep using the UDK as a scale ref as thats close enough for our use

if future models are to big the get in the door then they have to picnic outside ;)

I'm new to the mod team, but I'd advise strongly avoiding intellectual property from Relic's Dawn of War series.

It could cause legal action.

My old mod team have dealt with GW legal before and they are quite strict.

It is better to create your own maps, associated stories and concepts that are unique to this mod.

Ok geo ill keep using the UDK player model as my reference.

And bf40k admin, what do you mean? Does that have relevance to this thread or did you just post it here?

bf40kadmin means if you copy content or names from DoW it could cause us problems. use content from GW+FW+BW sites as refs

hard to say atm, i've never played DoW2 so i'm not sure if their just a generic type building, a mud hut is a mud hut, just as long as you don't try and do a direct copy

--

even if you did a direct copy I don't think that they can copyright the design of a mud hut

haha ok, well i am doing a direct copy so once i finish these i should probably stop. Coz then i was going to copy their guard tower, their guard house, their manor house, and a bunch of other buildings from their maps.
