Ultimate Empire at War is a conversion of Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption. It aims to include four eras of Star Wars history: the Age of the Old Republic, the Clone Wars, the Galactic Civil War, and the Dawn of the New Republic in an re-created game that is more engaging on both the tactical and strategic level, enhancing gameplay and deepening it, as well as overhauling the graphics in the game. In short - EaW the way it was meant to be - spanning Star Wars history in a deeply strategic game with high quality graphics and challenging gameplay.
The Star Forge, as seen in KOTOR. Note that this is a Blender render.
very cool
blender render rofl xD
(buried)
rotfl you guys fail using blender as a modeling tool use 3DS MAX 8 or 9
Idiot we DO use 3DS Max, go get a grip. Blender has been used here for secondary purposes of UVing and is our interface between staff members who don't have 3DS Max, which the majority of us do.
GTFO our image.
I personally use Blender to model with because it's the software I learned to model with. Sure, 3DS Max does some things better. But Blender does other things better than Max, in my opinion. The only real downside is that it extends the modelling pipeline.
3Ds Max does nothing better than Blender. Anything done in 3DS Max is able to be done in Blender and with version 2.45 of blender it may even be able to beat Max in several areas. But 3ds max is not better than Blender when you get right down to the nitty gritty facts.
Tell that to the nub who posted earlier, lol.
Gladly, :D. BTW How many polys does that thing have?
Around 8800 triangles. The one thing that Max does better than Blender is DirectX support, which is due to it being proprietary software and not open source. Nice to find someone else who appreciates Blender though :D
I'm not really sure what the DirectX thing does that makes it better all I know is that every dollar i save when using blender is a reason to use it over 3DS Max, so there is 3000 reasons right there. ;) :D
DirectX means we can use shaders that games in Windows understand. Blender uses OpenGL, which doesn't support DirectX shaders. It's possible to make Blender use parts of DirectX via Python, I think. But yeah, that's dwarfed by the monetary saving :P
back to the moddel
it looks great how big will it actually be in the game itself?
sooo what exactly does it do?
dude i was reading the summary and the whole old republic and the entire time i was thinking "wat the hell about the star forge" and what do u know here it is man ill get trigger happy with that **** but ive never used it in a mod so idk exactly wat it would do does it like just constantly spawn battleships and fighters and bombers or does it actualy have cannons cuz in KOTOR it didnt even have cannons and all they did was fly right on up to the thing and shot the electromagnetic thingy and it fell into the sun and i just sat there and was like WTF thats how they kill it wat happend to shooting a needle through a giant haystack into the main power generator or sumtin like that but anyways this things gonna be kickass automatically
in kotor you will notice if you look carefully enough it did have several cannons, also i would guess instead of continuously spawning units it would make units quicker and for a cheaper price, also so the game engine will understand it it will probly have hardpoints to destroy or something like that.
oh theres the starforge lol
