I am currently trying to figure out the new installer creator. That is how close you are to having 0.5b1. In fact, the only thing that's stumping me at the moment is how to make it create desktop and start menu shortcuts. See? This is how close you are to having it.
While I'm doing that though, I'm gonna give you guys the major changes page from the installer. This includes general descriptions of how things work, new features you should be aware of and the full balance change list.
New Features:
- New animations
- New building names for easier use
- Easier access to the Tyranids AI Control Panel
- Influence resource beta
- Tyranid Mod: Great Devourer Mode
- Soulstorm-oriented balance changes
Tyranid AI Control Panel
This actually existed in previous versions, but now we're putting a direct shortcut to it in your Soulstorm folder. AI too hard? Tweak it! AI not hard enough? Change it! Play the game how you want to play it.
Influence Resource
We've included a beta version of the Influence resource. Unfortunately it bugged the other races into displaying the Ork Pop resource even when those other races didn't use it, so we had to disable the display for it. We know it's broken, sorry.
0.5b2 will feature a significantly better version.
Tyranid Mod: Great Devourer Mode
Tyranid Mod: GDM is a mini-mod we've bundled with 0.5b1. It's exactly the same as the ordinary Tyranid Mod, except you have no limit on how much of anything you can produce - meaning you can have an army of Lictors, Hive Tyrants and Trygons if you can put the resources together.
Effectively, Tyranid Mod: GDM is for when you want to play in sandbox mode, or against a ridiculously hard version of the Tyranids.

Before you ask, no, we haven't added any new units this round. Expect new units in later releases though.
If the installer is still being worked on, are you able to release just the data folder and module file, so we could just copy the mod directly to the Program Files\THQ\Soulstorm folder?
We are able to, we prefer not to - because it's a 260mb download that way.

Mean this, the old your installer sources does not work?
Yeah, we used to use NSIS, which worked great but for some reason the compiling script just crapped itself this time around. I can't figure out what's wrong so we're going to something simpler.
So you decided to move from NSIS to another program? Is it "ClickTeam install creator"? Which version?
Yeah, it's ClickTeam Install Creator Pro 2.0.
Hmm, I checked the script which Thudo sent me, and I found it is pretty easy - to setup desktop and startmenu shortcuts. Though, I not tested it.
Whee and just in time before my finals :P
I was wondering if you guys tweaked the animation for the Broodlord. Does he close his mouth now? I'd imagine that his jaws would get tired after a match lol
Before we begin this discussion, is that ALL the balance changes? Or is it all you guys can remember for now?
That's the full list of changes.
Uh... well ok then, thanks! Really? It seems though then your coder is absent? Or yet absent and you guys don't have a coder?
There are several huge balance changes you guys are forgetting, and I must point out that you missed 9 MAJOR ones that will act OP to every other faction, including me Daemons, lol. You might have fixed these already though. I see you fixed 5 already.
There are also 17 minor changes I would add, but the shortened length of the balance changes might have not been too specific. Hense, I could be just rambling.
