It seems as if the position can be chosen.
Fantastic! The only thing I miss is the ability to set up teams at the menu dialog.

I'm afraid that's not true. Not yet anyway.
hopefully you will be able too eventually though right as the random spawn locations does get anoying some times as you generally have no idea where the heck you are on the map
Would be awesome if we could select AI players, their color, their individual difficulty and their position on the map. (Like in RA2)

Wonderful, but what about the map gen? Not too many mods support that feature.
This does look good, but i would suggest changing the background - some people may find it difficult to read the text on the left.
