Tour of Duty is a realistic team play mod for Halflife by Valve Software. The game is set at the height of the Vietnam war, between 1967 and 1973 allowing you to relive the conflict fighting either for the United States Marine Corp (USMC) or the Viet Cong (VC)/North Vietnamese Army (NVA).
The mod features realistic weapons of the period, and a number of gameplay styles including control point capture, demolition or bombing missions, capture the flag/radio/codemachine and escape and evasion are the currently coded styles.
We are also planning on adding rescue missions, where you'll rescue a general or famous figure.
We've added support for some vehicles that players can ride into the action in, with guns 'ablazing', right now, we have a huey that players ride to the bomb target zone, and have plans for PT boats in future levels.

Tour of Duty 1.3 is finally released. There are a few fixes and a few additions. However we are sorry to say that this is the final patch for Tour of Duty for HL1. It is in no way the final game but we will no longer be working on it. The file can be found on file planet at Fileplanet.com. Also to go along with the last patch for Tour of Duty we have a new website to go with it. So head over there and check out the new design and read the whole release news. Sign up at the new forums and check us out in irc at #tourofduty on gamesurge.

Is somebody playing still this mod?
me
Hey everybody, so Im not sure if anyone remembers me, I was quite young and obnoxious when I was a part of this mod team back in 2002 (it was my first real mod I ever worked on, I was a texture artist for weapon models). I just wanted to say whats up to everyone who might see this who had worked along side me on this fun little experience, it got me started down the path that eventually became a career for me (I have worked professionally in the video game industry now since 2005, and its all beacuse of my beginnings on the Tour of Duty mod!)
hey DN, glad to hear you made a life for yourself from the modding experience. i was in the middle of university when we were developing the mod and went on to work on games for 5 years after graduating. doing a little more mundane work now but still doing development. hard to believe people occasionally talk about the mod, guess we did something right!
cochise
Hey man, it's pentagon from the old ToD dev team... i did some textures, the hud, and the website along with Matrix (haven't talked to him in a long time). I'll shoot you a PM in case it doesn't notify you of my message.
Aww no, ther's no Singleplayer ...
But it looks good.
No server on this mod..
So any updates?
Wow, its been a long time hasnt it? I still talk to Derek (teufel) from time to time on facebook. This mod is responsible for starting me down the path to my career as a 3d artist for computer/console games
Thanks for the time and effort put into making this great mod. I have good memories playing ToD, even if I spent too much of the time punishing newbs with the M79.
