Tour of Duty is a realistic team play mod for Halflife by Valve Software. The game is set at the height of the Vietnam war, between 1967 and 1973 allowing you to relive the conflict fighting either for the United States Marine Corp (USMC) or the Viet Cong (VC)/North Vietnamese Army (NVA).
The mod features realistic weapons of the period, and a number of gameplay styles including control point capture, demolition or bombing missions, capture the flag/radio/codemachine and escape and evasion are the currently coded styles.
We are also planning on adding rescue missions, where you'll rescue a general or famous figure.
We've added support for some vehicles that players can ride into the action in, with guns 'ablazing', right now, we have a huey that players ride to the bomb target zone, and have plans for PT boats in future levels.

Tour of Duty 1.3 is finally released. There are a few fixes and a few additions. However we are sorry to say that this is the final patch for Tour of Duty for HL1. It is in no way the final game but we will no longer be working on it. The file can be found on file planet at Fileplanet.com. Also to go along with the last patch for Tour of Duty we have a new website to go with it. So head over there and check out the new design and read the whole release news. Sign up at the new forums and check us out in irc at #tourofduty on gamesurge.

did somebody mention |=BoH=|...god this brings me back...i havent played in ages... i wish that someone would revive this mod for source...it would be amazing...i can still remember spending hours nonstop on the old =DirtyDozen= server...and yes...who could ever forget Special Delivery's well...special delivieries...the biggest problem with this mod was that the development just went too slow...i remember i even tried to have BBGun teach me how to map just to try and help out but that never really panned out...too many player just got tired of waiting for updates and moved on to other games...i remember at one point most of the original BoH became a little less active and everyone else jumped ship over to Call of Duty...if ToD ever makes a comeback youll be sure to find me hiding in the bush...remember...Charlie Dont Surf
PS. Rest in peace |=BoH=|Lady Luck
...her and i took on the =DirtyDozen= in my first ever match as part of BoH...even though we played outnumbered 2 vs 7 we almost won...those were the days
Yeah, pretty much I got owned by alot of players lol.
I still cant believe not one mod team took it upon themselves to make a Vietnam mod or Tour of Duty 2. Sobs silently.
the bots dosent work
I remember you two always had a hard time with us BoH ; )
The mod died for one reason. Steam.
On Won the mod had fog, that fog gave the maps tons of jungle "feel"
Steam took that away and almost overnight the mod died. Players left so fast the mod team got discouraged and they went their separate ways.
Thats ok the way I remember it me and Fugere were the best ToD players ever in the history of the mod.
In fact we turned down many requests by Fatality to teach him how to play. (Coughs , looks around)
If you guys want to continue playing in the jungle. Get BF2 and download the mod Eve of Destruction.
Eodmod.com
Im also playing alot of the BF2 mod Point of Existence and the Half-Life 2 mods Insurgency and Fortress Forever (TFC2).
The maps were too small for a full server, but the game didn't very well live up to the war it was portraying with only 4 people on at a time.
The mod had potential, all it needed was a community willing to really play it, but it was passed over.. its patches were delayed... and its player base dwindled. It's sad but it's true.
one day...
SOMEONE PLEASE fix/rerelease this, even for just regular half-life! This mod was probably some of the most fun I ever had playing an FPS on pc! Fairly tactical, an awesome sense of tug-of-war, about the only thing that even came close was battle grounds and it blows goats compared to the awesomeness this game had! For small-scale warfare, the maps and the gameplay were just fantastic. The first time you jumped onto the chopper on its lil tracked out path, or the first time you saw someone got squashed under it...the awesome vietnam village maps...throwing those german grenades with the handle on em at guys...running and hiding in tall grass...nothing has really compared to this for me except for joint operations, and that game is all large-scale style!
It'd be hard to get players together, but if anyone could salvage anything from this mod and fix it up in a steam-able version, I'd kiss your ***.
The Mod crahses after loading the first map? Why? Have enyone this prob too?
I use steam, this is a problem but is this the reason why it crashes?
You can't drive vehicles in Tour of Duty.
They need to release a Source version if this is ever going to get back on its feet.
