High Elve Spearmen

Once a High Elf Archer has proven his worth fighting with his regiment for a decade or more, he is trained to fight as part of a Spear regiment, using the tall spears that the High Elves favour. After only a short time a regiment of High Elf Spears becomes a finely honed fighting machine. Each member of the unit instinctively knows the mind of his comrades to either side and the whole regiment intuitively fights as one body. Each warrior plays his part as if their every movement was part of a catefully choreographed plan, overlapping one another and providing protection, or opening the defenses of the enemy without so much as a spoken word or a nod. Such training serves only to improve upon the natural prowess of the High Elves, and it has earned them a reputation for which they are rightly feared by their foes.

Sentinel is the title given to the Elves who command the Spear regiments, and theirs is the duty to oversee the training of their comrades. Without exception they are veterans of many bloody battles, who have faced countless horrors and lived. Their hard-won experience benefits the Elves around them, instilling confidence as well as providing the regiment with a hardened warrior to take on the worst the enemy has to throw at them. Like the regiments of Archers, the High Elf Spear regiments are garbed in white, often with a coloured border design that proclaims their realm or city of origins. For the High Elves white is the colour of purity and of death, and their robes symbolize their determination to fight to the end if necessary.

Elf Spearmen are very well equipped, with fine hauberks of scale armour, strong shields, tall helms, and spears up to ten feet tall. On the field of battle, the Spear regiments form bastions of resistance against the enemy. A wall of deadly spear tips threatening to impale any brave enough to charge them.
