Many people think Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer should have been more similar to Battlefield or Battlefront with large-scale epic battles and the like; Mass Effect: Unification does just that.

Cool, but it's a little odd how there are 'evolved Geth'. Legion is the only non-heretic platform in Mass Effect. There weren't any other physical Geth fighting the heretics as far as I remember.

"Heretics

According to Legion, the geth that served Sovereign were actually a splinter faction, and the much larger geth collective opposes the Reapers. Legion is part of this larger faction; they refer to the Reapers as "Old Machines" and Sovereign as Nazara. Legion explains that other geth have no hostility towards Commander Shepard or even the quarians. While the geth heretics that serve the Reapers want the Reapers to give them a future, Legion and like-minded geth want to make their own future.

Despite this difference, the baseline geth respected the heretics' decision and did not label it as "wrong". Using another analogy, Legion explains that in simple terms, "Heretics say, one is less than two. Geth say, two is less than three." The heretics were allowed to leave peacefully, to join their god and its prophet."

In game, Legion states that there are more Geth runtimes but they do not possess as many actual platforms of them. He even says that only on platform was inhabited by them and this was the one Shepard recruited. There is never any reference to any other Geth anywhere in the galaxy and, considering Shepard explores all the major areas and finds massive amounts of Heretics- who are supposedly only 5% of the Geth- wouldn't you expect there to be a massive number of other Geth if they were inhabiting platforms? They are never seen or mentioned anywhere ingame.

Mass Effect's multiplayer is laughably loose with the series' canon. It features ridiculously high levels of defectors from enemy factions, they mass-produce EDI's model despite her only having it for a matter of days before the Reapers are defeated and even adds in a BS reason for why some of the Collectors magically escape the Reapers' mind control. It's all added in for gameplay reasons and to take it seriously ***** all over the rest of the canon. Please don't add Volus soldiers too.

Finally: why do you even want two Geth factions? How are you going to make them play differently? It seems pretty redundant if they have the same classes.

Why do we want two geth factions? Because it's fun and makes things more interesting. They *don't* have the same classes. Try playing the R5 beta before posting a rebuttal.

Character limit is gonna make me split this into several comments, sorry about that.

Please link me to the video proving Legion stating that the Geth faction he is a part of lacks platforms. I don't have time to replay Mass Effect 2 for an eighth time right now, but I know he never said that.

Moreover, the geth we see in ME3 are part of his faction. All of those Geth on the Dreadnought and on Rannoch. They switched to the Reapers side for safety, not because they were Heretics. They were being wiped out by the Quarians, so they switched sides.

Except for all the times they did mention them in the series. Don't forget Mass Effect 1, where they explicitly state that when the Geth attacked Eden Prime, it was the first time the Geth had ever left the Perseus Veil (a nebulae that hides Geth Space from the Terminus Systems).

Shepard (in ME2) finds Heretics on Haestrom, the Heretic Station, and that's it. The Geth we see elsewhere are not Heretics. The ones we see in Overlord are being controlled by David, they're not from a Geth faction. I hardly call that "massive" ammounts, especially considering there's only about 50 or so you have to fight (between Haestrom and the Station), at most.

Sure it plays it loose for the sake of gameplay at times, but generally speaking it's not as bad as you make it to be. There's not that many "defectors" as you call them. Batarians are in the canon as fighting the Reapers alongside the Alliance, especially thanks to Aria. Same with the Vorcha. The only real "defector" I can think of are the two Cerberus units, and considering that members of Cerberus defecting is in the canon elsewhere, that's hardly a stretch.

No one ever said they mass-produced the EDI android. That's conjecture. The most we can ever see on screen is four, so it's a blatant assumption that just because any player can unlock and play as them that they've mass-produced them.

The Awakened Collector is the biggest stretch, sure, but hardly that insane. BioWare has done some crazy **** before.

Oh and if we have the art assets and a place for them we WILL add Volus.

Because it's fun. This was my choice/idea for the record, so I take any and all blame you want to throw at the project.
Secondly, the classes aren't the same. The only one that's essentially the same is the Rocket Trooper.

I apologize that I haven't created all the art assets for the new Geth faction yet, once that's done we'll release an update to R5's beta so you can try it out for yourself.

But you know what the best part about all of this is? If you have that much of an issue with the Evolved Geth, you can turn them off via our Config Tool. Because we're like that.

I'm not convinced any Geth in Mass Effect 2 other than Legion weren't heretics - the fact that the Geth never left the Perseus Veil before Eden Prime suggests that only the Heretics have left it (again with the exception of Legion)

However, all of the platforms in Mass Effect 3 must be True Geth, because the Heretics are gone. There were combat platforms during the Morning War, so surely there must be some left. True Geth vs. Heretic Geth is perfectly reasonable and it already happens in the multiplayer. Not to mention that Star Wars Battlefront is far more loose with Star Wars canon than this mod is with Mass Effect...
