France and the Hapsburg fight to gain ascendancy over Italy, involved are most of the Italian city states or lordships and even most of the European states. The war remains for more than sixty years on the Italian peninsula.
Founded on 7th August in 1192, the Republic of Noli lasted till 1797. Governed by a Podesta and several noble families. The Republic covered only 4 square kilometre and therefore signed a treaty with the nearby Republic of Genoa for protection in 1202. This treaty though, was no treaty of submission, the cities were treated equally in this contract. The Republic of Noli had its heydays during the 13th century, alongside Genoa. Though the city's trade amount declined over the years, simply because their port was not suitable for larger ships, but also, because of the ongoing conflict with Savona and the city of Finale. Epidemics and internal struggle among the families played their parts.
Such realism, much wow. So many little teeny city states i never even knew about.
Well, we thought it would be interesting for you guys to learn more about all these tiny lordships and republics present on our map :)
Mmmm, another ocky little city state to show 'Who's your padre`?'
Actually yes :D
As soon as you have conquered Genoa you'll receive an offer from the city of Noli if it is still independent. Concerned about their well beings they offer you their submission for only 15000 florins :P
