The Great War mod is a total conversion modification for Napoleon: Total War. It creates an authentic representation of World War 1-era tactics, strategies and general warfare within the game. Including stunning new visuals that include entirely new models and textures for equipment, vehicles and more, the mod immerses you into the era with brand new gameplay unlike anything you've experienced in Total War before.

Here is a list of all the traits and ancillaries that make up the story of Russia. The effects of these traits are still being tweaked but generally cause negative effects until you get to Soviet Russia at which point all of the effects become very positive and increase income and stability.

Since NTW doesnt allow for faction specific events we have to use traits to tell the story instead. Each trait and ancillary will have a small description that goes along with it that explains the historical context of the traits and ancillaries.

Early June 1914
Trait: Divine Right to Rule
Ancillary: Tsarevich Alexei

Early September 1915
Trait: Commander-in-Chief
Description: Tsar Nicholas takes control of the army.

Early January 1916
Trait: Tsarina's Rule
Ancillary: Tsarina Alexandra, Rasputin
Description: The Tsarina and her trusted advisor Rasputin are left to run the country.

Late December 1916
Trait: Rasputin Assassinated
Ancillary: Rasputin Removed

Late February 1917
Trait: February Revolution

+1 turn after successful revolution
Trait: Provisional Government

+1 turn after failed revolution
Trait: Failed Revolution

Late April 1917
Trait: Lenin Returns from Exile
Ancillary: Vladimir Lenin

Early July 1917
Trait: July Days
Description: During the month of July Russia was plagued by extreme unrest fuel by Lenin and the Bolsheviks.

Early August 1917
Trait: Lenin Flees to Finland
Ancillary: Vladimir Lenin Removed

Late August 1917
Trait: Government Crackdown

Early November 1917
Trait: October Revolution

+1 turn after successful revolution
Trait: Comrades! Brothers!
Ancillary: Vladimir Lenin, Leon Trotsky

+1 turn after failed revolution
Trait: Failed Revolution

After a successful communist revolution the faction leader is selected at random and there is no way to change that so instead we add Lenin and Trotsky as ancillaries.

Long live the friendship of the peoples! Comrades brothers! Workers of the world, unite!
This mod contains so many details about the republic, hope in the mod that it will be possible to ally the Weimar Republic.

Thank you for your hard work and all this long time you have put into.

I have done so much research about Russia before, during and after the war it's crazy. I have watched many documentaries and read many articles about the civil war, the life of Lenin, the provisional government etc. and I've tried to fit as much as possible into the mod.

I also added a couple secret events that only happen if you keep playing as Soviet Russia for a long time. I didn't post about them above.

Thank you for your work, good sir! I am eagerly waiting to see it come to fruition in the near future!

It would be interesting to see an add-on campaign for Russian White Army of the Sounth trying to stop Soviets.

Understrength, undersupplied and often outnumbered, dwindling support of Antante, with varying political views and no clear plan in case of victory.

You have left me speechless, I'm truly happy from everything you have done, and Im sure many people will forever appreciate your work. The research you have done is really seen, though I already have a guess about the events.

I added a couple descriptions to some of the traits to make it clear what they represent.

Kerensky getting some love! Woo! Though I feel he should be a bit more competent and maybe have some minuses to agriculture and army, but a plus to something else like foreign relations, management (law?) and happiness (lower & middle classes), idk. Winning as the Russian Republic / RDFR instead of the Bolsheviks would be nice :) Will the Russian Republic get the plain tricolour without the Romanov crest? Loving it all so far, thanks for your continued fab work!

Description

This is something I have been working on for a very long time. Russia has, by far, the most interesting story of any country that fought in World War 1 and the best way to tell this story is through a series of traits and ancillaries.
