A Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour total conversion. This Mod focuses on Modern and Near Future Combat using the latest Military technology and armament.
There will be 4 Stryker variants included in TAOW, each one with their special roles:
- M1126 Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV);
- M1128 Mobile Gun System (MGS);
- M1129 Mortar Carrier (MC);
- M1134 Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM).
This particular unarmed variant was made to show the main upgrade the Stryker "family" will be able to support - the Slat Armor, also known as the "Cage Armor".
This armor will increase the Strykers resistance against incoming RPG's.
You know those Iraqi Security forces,There gonna get some strykers,but whats should they go for?The Stryker or the Romanian SAUR-1
It really depends on their specific needs (I suppose the Saur 1 and Saur 2 are cheaper than the Strykers which is always an interesting advantage for countries with limited military budgets like Iraq, even though Iraq is seriously tooling up their renewed armed forces).
They would have to test both on specific Army Trials (to see which one's the most suited for the intended Iraqi terrain). The Stryker haves the advantage of having been extensively field tested by US Forces (and the fact that they respect and have US Military hardware alongside them everyday).
At this exact moment however, the Stryker is the one which will have the decisive probability of entering full military service in the Iraqi Security Forces, specially since they have formally made a large order of 400 Strykers: Strategypage.com
the armor should be a little smaller
my aunt has a friend that works on strykers in iraq
it's smaller and closer to the chassis
This specific model was one of the first slat armor prototypes (many vehicles will be able of receiving this upgrade other than Strykers, an important example are the MRAPs - Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles).
Currently these are to be equipped on the updated Strykers.
It's also important to note that there are different and varied levels of slat armor - if a vehicle is regularly conducting patrols on a less "problematic" zone it may carry less armor (which is normally concentrated in the vehicle areas which are more likely to be hit), and, if a Stryker is deployed on a zone where frequent reports of RPG's have been made then it's natural to receive a larger slat to cover more areas of the vehicle.
The zoom in this render was also close to the Stryker so it appears the slat is larger than usual, in game though, it looks differently.
ah. gotcha
