The Zombie Apocalypse scenario normally bores me rigid, but this is one of the best and most intriguing takes on it I've seen. Got yourself a follower. ;)
Yep, I am Noob is correct. Around 30% will take place in various parts of the past. This will serve as the introduction. From there, the game will launch you into the ~2060.
There are no ordinary persons. The person needs background and a reason to be there, a reason to do what he does, the main character needs a link to the awesome story you already have. Maybe he or his relatives were somehow involved in the previous events. Or if he just comes into the contact with the thing, the story needs to unravel slowly, piece by piece, don't spit it all out in one go like you have done in the "The Story" portion of there.
It is a huge wasted potential and I suggest you have a little brainstorm session and explore your options around there.
You're playing a completely unsuspecting survivor caught up in a global disaster. Think of any zombie or disaster movie - the protagonist needs to have no prior connection to the insanity so as to relate to us.
Sure there are! Keep in mind that in 2060, the population growth will be fairly big and only a handful of people will be connected to the events. Naturally, the protagonist will have some story as to why she is caught up in the events. The main character isn't necessarily connected to previous events. You are simply an ordinary person in a very unordinary situation. That way, players can related to the character more, put themselves in her shoes, etc.
This is the essence of a zombie apocalypse, right? Everyone is caught off guard.
what do you mean by writers?... in your "looking for-" section of the mod image?

I have a question:
Will parts of the game be set in the past? Or will the entire game play out in 2060?
The gameplay takes place in both the past and future

Also, it's worth mentioning that whats above is just a tiny part of the story line
