Version 0.8 of The 4th Age is finally here, after years on hiatus. Read on to learn more and how to install the mod.
To install:
- Make sure you have clean installation of The Battle for Middle-earth in English, patched to the 1.06 T3A Community patch. You can find all you need at this link.
- Install the mod.
- If everything is in order, you should simply press the shortcut made by the installer to play the mod. Enjoy, and please consider giving feedback here or, preferably, on the Discord server.
If you have any newer patch than 1.06 installed The 4th Age is unlikely to work, so you will have to uninstall the game, remove any patches, then install the game and try again. It should work, and you may of course install other patches later on. The 4th Age does not interfere with any mod or patch, but other mods or patches might interfere with The 4th Age, depending on how they are installed. While English is "required", other languages might work, but be aware that it might not work on all of them.
The Age of Men is upon us, as is the release of The 4th Age 0.8. Due do over a decade of hiatus on this mod, and many changes since, there is no changelog for you to read. You can, however, find a list of known issues while installing the mod, for now.
With this release, Gondor, Rohan and Rhûn are considered complete, as far as features go. That includes AI, so you can play against the computer. There are bugs, of course, and there are massive needs for balance changes. You are very welcome to suggest them, as well as report bugs!
Any questions, issues, suggestions, bug reports or anything else can easily be found at The 4th Age's Discord server. ModDB works as well, but is checked less frequently than the Discord server.
Thank you good works great
If my game is not installed in English, will the mod not work?
It might not. I know Scouring of the Shire didn't work on a German version way back when, but there's no harm in trying. If it doesn't work, reinstalling the game in English will, at least.
Does this have Good and Evil Campaign?
Sadly, it does not. That would require too much work for a one-man team, which I am. I had ideas for what I would like (basically: A couple of real missions, otherwise simply taking over territories like in vanilla BFME1), but it sadly won't ever happen.
