The idea for the mod theme comes from Hexen level: Darkmere. Swamp, but scifi. Player controls a reptile/snake/amphibian type of character that lives in a swamp planet. There is not much story yet, just some bunch of ideas for a story. Whatever the story will be, it will be something that involves lots of different kinds of monsters for player to destroy in unarmed combat and with various melee & ranged weapons. Most likely player faces the horde of monsters alone without any NPC helpers. The mod may also involve some RPG character creation/development, though the skills may develop on their own depending on what skills player uses. Also it may be possible to gain some perks that give player additional special enhancements to his/her abilities. --- Currently the work on this mod is discontinued...
Actually I'm feeling like I don't want to continue this mod. I would have liked this to look like it has looked like, semi-photorealistic, but I am just too tired to do that kind of graphics.
Also there never seemed to be any story, and the only thing keeping me doing this was the snake/reptile/amphibian look for the player character, but that doesn't feel enough.
However, I don't want to stop modding completely. So I will be doing something with more story, something that is more personal, can have a simpler graphical style and is not so tied to one type of environment, which I may not even be able to do good enough.
I may some day pick up this idea again, but now it hasn't progressed as well as I have wanted.
Well, thanks for watching & supporting the project. See you around!
This month's achievements include some particle effects, gibs and new spikeclaw models.
Now there are some WIP models and concepts shown in the image gallery. Plans for some gameplay/model changes have been done.
The video shows some action with the Spikeclaw monster and the new metal texture set. There are two parts in the video: first part show what Spikeclaws...
The new system involves simple locational damage, armor, body health and blood.
So sad this is dead
Discontinued. Well, i hope you wont be giving up on modding entirely. Congratulations on coming this far. Whatever i tried to mod, i failed because of this and that. But i did complete some other stuff. Good luck.
So, work continues on this and seems like I'm back to using DarkPlaces, etc stuff, and looks like player character is going to be more like I've mentioned in the description:"reptile/snake/amphibian". While it was nice to have legs with the character, maybe a legless character will be more interesting.
> seems like I'm back to using DarkPlaces
good news :3
I think I'm gonna change the graphical style a bit. I'm fine with sculpting highpoly models, but when it comes to doing hard surface highpoly modeling, then I just get.. agh, what the hell is this ****.
So ok, I'm thinking of some simpler style. But I have only thought about this stuff for model textures, I don't know what would happen to all the level textures I've done so far.
I think then I wouldn't have normal maps even if the engine supported them. I guess it would be a bit retro graphical style.
you didnt really switch to the doom engine did you?
Well, I haven't fully decided yet, but since I'm doing stuff with Doomsday now, so I'll list it as Doom now. I feel there's good and bad in both Doom and Quake, and they weigh equally to me. So I have to at least try which is more fun, works better for the features that are important.
i dont want to seem mean or anything, but if this is a doom project. i feel i have to remove your news posts from the quakedb group =/
Well, I guess that's ok, though I might change back to Quake if some stuff doesn't work right. Like liquids may not work as well as they should... since Doomsday doesn't have liquids/swimming at all.. and then I have to do it with some little faking.
I think I use Doom for some month or two and see where it goes. It's not much trouble converting resources if I change back to Quake. They're all quite similar with both.
well, ill wait to see what you end up doing. it would suck to delete some good news posts when there's a possibility you may still bounce back.
