Quake 1.5 HD beta 3 - Zircon

This MOD is a (much needed) graphical overhaul for Quake 1.5 Public Beta 1: a set of texture-replacements taken from other MODs and here and there on the Internet and added together to Quake 1.5, so that it also looks acceptable - or even very good! - for modern standards. Making these texture-sets work in Quake 1.5 has required a certain amount of effort, due to the complexity of the internal structure of Quake 1.5 itself. Therefore I decided to create a new MOD, name it "Quake 1.5 HD", so that everyone can easily enjoy the new weapons and the new gore system in combination with high resolution textures. The game is not heavy, at all. However, it requires a decent PC (not suitable for more than 20 years old hardware). Its weight is due to ray tracing: it is not path traced but it has RT light sources, so that most scenes appear much nicer than on the original game.

RT in DP/Zircon stands for Real Time (not pre-calculated lightmaps)
It has nothing to do with ray tracing.

Sorry I don't think so:
"RT World" --> Real Time World ??? This cannot be.
There will be an eternal arguement among people regarding this topic, because real time shadows ARE ray traced shadows.
For tracing a shadow in real time you need to trace light itself.
What was advertised as ray tracing by NVidia is indeed path tracing. What you see on Quake 2 RTX and other games is path tracing. RTX cards are needed for path tracing, not for ray tracing. But since NVidia advertised the new technology as "Ray Tracing", it is even being removed from many games if no RTX card is being used, just for marketing purposes. So that people are even starting to think that they need an RTX card to be able to play games on which shadows are casted.

oh wow another "HD compilation for Quake". When this trend dies once and for all?
The screenshots look amazing
Looks awful
***UPDATE** (Upon the Scratching Sound, i forgot that this game runs audio tracks from CD, and the annoying tempo sounds are coming from CD/DVD drive, the game tries to read whatever is in your drive at the time.
so for the sounds to stop just take out cd or dvd in disc drive)
I been having an odd issue with the audio, sounds like loud scratching noises that is in tempo. it seems to happen in a dual screen setup, or duplicated screen setup in windows. and when i change the scale in display for desktop, the game zooms in at an angle. and it doesnt show the full screen.
Never experienced this optical drive issue. As explained on the readme, you can just extract the original tracks from the game-CD (if you have it) with any audio utility, and convert them to the OGG-vorbis format, then it's enough to put them into the subfolder \ID1\sound\cdtracks and the game will play them during gameplay (without the need of any optical drive).
help i cant put in fullscreen
