Set in an alternative history universe in which the grand European empires of the early modern era never fell. With almost the entire planet dominated by these empires, Stormaktstiden takes place between the years 2017-2021, and focuses on the 'Second Great Northern War' between the Swedish and Russian Empires as well as their respective allies.
"With the Imperial Russian Navy losing the battle for the Barents Sea, Russian High Command made the decision to open another front in the region of Finnmark in a desperate attempt to push towards and capture key Swedish ports along the Scandinavian Peninsula's northern coast. The region of Finnmark is notable for its sprawling sub-arctic tundras and open mountainous grasslands and would make the coming battle for both sides much more difficult. The two sides met on the flats near the town of Grönvikssund in what would prove to be one of the largest armoured engagements of the entire war."
One of the largest maps to be featured in Stormaktstiden with a 4km heightmap (although only a reasonably sized part of it is playable). Very sparse overgrowth, lots of grass and wide open spaces make this an ideal map for vehicular combat.
