I have been cycling ideas for a bug fleet in my mind for several day now
i think i know how the bug fleet should be handled
i offer my ideas but i do not expect them to be accepted
or even to be considered. i only wish to display them

the bug fleet is composed of ships mostly cut out of meteors from the
asteroid belt orbiting closely to klendathu (thus when this planet is captured in conquest ships costs skyrocket for bugs)
while the federation fleet is widely comprised of large very powerfull vessels. the bug fleet
has more medium sized vessel than large. but the ships that are large tend to be quite a bit larger than federation ships
to ensure that the bugs have effective communication with there leaders the ships are often built with organic circutry
this allows a psychic link that is not quite understood by human scientist and has proved inpenetrable with human psychics
because most of the bug ships are not highly manueverable almost all of them are built to house legions of organic fighters
these fighters are deployed in large numbers. because they are not extremely powerfull opponents one squad comprised of twenty is about the same as a single squad of tac fighters (3) or a squad of razorbacks (5)

now for a rough unit list

Steel Kin fighter- these fighters appear to be cold heartless machines but are in fact cold heartless bugs bred for the purpose of space flight. there exoskeletons are a tough metal known as biomantium. they are always deployed in large numbers. they are nothing more than canon fodder used to distract federation ships and often overwhelm them. they are of course no match for the federation tac fighters which will tear right through the bugs even collide with them suffering little damage. when they explode they die in a brilliant flash. the organic fuel stored in there thorax is incredibly volatile. there main weapon is a single beam that shoots from what appears to be the bugs mouth

Caste podship- this ship is incredibly alien it is shaped almost like a earth tadpole. there are two structures that appear to be eyes many human beleive these to be space faring bugs but these are in fact fuel pockets. these ensure that they death of these ships are volatile. they are carved from the smallest asteroid. they are not highly manueverable but have decent speed. they are increidibly sturdy and can take quite a beating from enemy ships. like the steel kin fighter this ship has a singel beam weapon. but this ships weapon is incredibly powerfull. but has a low recharge rate. bugs use these ships to effectively counter enemy fighters. these ships contain no bio components but intead carry a pilot bug that can interface with machines and two warrior (in the event that the ship is borded)

I did a quick scan through this and it's pretty cool. I actually considered using asteroid type ships in some way with the old sst but Panzer was against it. I'm sure we can work something along those lines into the mod. The 20 bug fighters per squadron is not feasible tho. You have to keep in mind that even though those ships are small, each one is a rendered 3d model. If you have 5 bug ships that launched 1 squadron apiece, thats 100 models the game has to render plus the 5 bug ships plus the opposing factions ships & fighers. That adds up to alot of 3d polies that the engine is rendering at once. EaWs engine is fairly old and something like that would cause some major lag on even good pcs. Plus my larger models are usual fairly close to the poly limit of EaW.

But keep at it, I like the ideas & backstory...adds to the mod.

i hadnt really considered that boss but now that you say it i feel like an idiot

redardless i used example numbers
the bug should have more fighters on the field than federation
even if that means lowering federation fighter limits

looking back on something that happened in my past i forget which mod it was
but there was no fighter limit and in conquest everytime i entered a space battle it casue my game to crash
i had to take out all the fighters

i htink alot of bug fighters will be necessary i dont know how much but it will probably take alot of tweaking and messing with
to find the proper balance.

that will work without crashing the game

and i would like to be clear i am not trying to force you to do anything boss
im just the researcher i come up with ideas and i find stuff that nobody knew exsisted
you dont have to listen to me if you dont want to
