I think it should be a little bit more orange than pure yellow. Other than that, great.

the ancients had blue-ish shields
Images2.fanpop.com
the goauld had orange-ish
and tauri shields are an offshoot of asgard shield technology and ancient shield technology

I believe that is because Atlantis has a higher grade shield. It being ZPM powered and the others not.

I almost said its incredibly older than their other stuff
But since its the asurans age has nothing to do with it
And since its the asurans they have tons of zpms and know how to build them, going off the premise that a zpm has something to do with the color, all their ships "could" have blue-ish shields

Yeah Atlantis' shields were white and were always shown. I know I know ugly. but true.

I like it but im wondering is it possible to add more transparency to the shields? I just think its a bit to bright some might disagree but just my opinion.

This is awesome looking, I agree that the shields should have a bit more transparency (if its possible). However it would also be cool if the shields flaring could be adjusted to reflect team colors, again if it is possible cause I really have no clue if it is.

I'm not sure about this. It looks nice and shiny first, although on a closer look the effect just doesn't seem right. First, it's to flashy and low-quality at the same time. Effects and their textures seem cheap and low-res. I assume it's a limitation by sins, since the shield effects where always supposed to be subtle? Because otherwise your work in modelling and texturing has reached quite a high level, so i wouldn't ruin the visuals by such a cheap looking effect. It just stand's out to much for the actual simplicity of the effect. Finally these shield effect's in battle would be probably more noticeable than ship explosions. This might even obstruct gameplay slightly.

I'd throw it out if sins doesn't leave much room for improvement. It also doesn't look much like stargate at the moment. Stargate has mostly more subtle and often more complex shield effects.

the Original Sins shields were just giant bubbles. We are attempting to get rid of that.

Okay, this whole thing made me curious and i dug out the site of the shield mod.

Seems like i had some misconceptions about the shield mod. I thought it was still a slow fading effect similar to normal sins. Following this, the slightly low texture resolution would be obvious.

Instead, it's actually very different from normal sins and looks far better. Pictures just don't do this justice^^
Now I'm really curious how this is going to turn out.

the reason Atlantis' shields were blueish is because it was holding oxygen in it to keep everyone alive the other ships were orange/yellow because they were military shields

If possible you should make all the shields flare up when there is an explosion just not cause it any damage.

Description

So I was talking with Nekronus this morning, and he was telling me about this shield effects mod for the game. I gave it a whirl outside of the mod, and really liked how it looked. Threw it in the mod and adjusted the Asurans shield color and got this. What do you all think?
