Star Wars: The New Era was the first large Star Wars modification attempt made on Source Engine. It was produced by Invision Games, a group of over 60 modders and Star Wars fans that have evolved from the Movie Battles 2 community and a mod team working on "Star Wars: Source" before. Star Wars: The New Era was supposed to become a class-based multiplayer experience featuring objective-based scenarios. The project was abandoned in 2013 after all of the remaining team members dropped due to time constraints after starting to study or working in the industry. Initially, the latest state of the mod was planned to be released under Creative Commons license to allow the community to continue the work. Unfortunately, getting in contact with many former team members in order to open-source their work did not work out, so the decision was made not to release any assets without express permit by the respective authors.

In fact, we've been asked this quite a lot. I'm a little surprised by that, since I personally don't quite see the resemblence to Battlefront. But I'll be happy to find out :)

Well you had to see it coming. The screens of TNE give the image of Battlefront since it had levels and scenes parallel to it.Such levels weren't really witnessed in JkA until Mb2 became popular

I could see why though people think this is Battlefront. I mean, the levels look parallel enough and the graphics make you think "Battlefront 3" along with the concept of Jedi heroes and MP all-out Star Wars fighting.

I personally always hated the "YOU be the Jedi" thing in Battlefront 2. It took away the feeling of being a regular grunt in the historical battles. But having Jedi as a class that (hopefully) isn't overpowered will work wonders for this mod. I'm extremely excited for this, as BF3 isn't coming anytime in the near future. I loved Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, but I had it for the Xbox, so I missed out on MBII :(
So heres to this not being cancelled!
