Well, the X-wing is a better ship then the Tie anyway. Regardless of who uses them. I hate the minimalist idea of the Tie series. I'd rather not be considered expendable. I'll quote Athena. "It takes months for you to train a viper pilot. And then they die. and all that knowledge, there skills, their just gone."

The ties capable of more extreme maneuvers and some ties do have shielding.

I actually agree if we're specifically talking about the TiE/ln Starfighter. I prefer the TiE Interceptor to the X wing however.

Tie defender was a death trap if you weren't an elite pilot of maximum skill, too fast and maneuverable, easy to hit somthing or simply dont keep up with your own fighter, otherwise it was the strongest fighter in that period

Much like the Fokker Dr. 1 of the first world war, it was a plane that was incredibly hard to fly, but once mastered it was one of the greatest fighters of the war.
