Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. A Vindicator class Heavy Cruiser on patrol in formation with an Imperial Star Destroyer. Despite its strong resemblance to the ISD, the 600 meter Vindicator was actually built by Sienar Fleet Systems, perhaps as an attempt to get a foothold in the Star Destroyer market despite lacking the massive shipyards to compete with Kuat Drive Yards larger vessels. The Vindicator's hull would later be used by Sienar as the base for a rarer but more famous vessel, the Immobolizer-418 Interdictor Cruiser.
With numerous turbolasers and ion cannons, the Vindicator is well armed and armored for its size and can successfully engage almost all targets smaller than a capitalship. In groups they also make excellent escorts for proper Star Destroyers, and can even slightly boost the damage and shields of them while doing so. Finally, its small TIE Fighter squadron can help protect the Vindicator from its weakness to heavy bomber craft.
This is my third favourite Stardestroyer design, just for it's simplicity and pure practicality as an escort and Police cruiser. I'd rather have command of one of these with another two flanking my port and starboard than just been in command of the one ISD. Plus I bet it accelerates pretty damn quick with the large engines and the relative small frame.
