Out of all the fighter type craft to slingshot around a black hole with. A TIE is not what I'd pick, they are designed to be disposable, so yeah, they don't exactly inspire confidence.

Tie pilots have a lot of pride in what they do, every member of the Imperial Navy is an important part of a well oiled machine.

If it was a Tie Defender I'd be confident, anything cheaper though...

You underestimate the power of Battlefront II's TIE Bombers. Those things can take on anything!

TIE fighters are the most versatile fighter category well ever. they bomb, they intercept, some have shield , hyperdrives, some can do all of the above. They can do tight formations and are the most nimble of all star fighters in this time period (the A WING and the TIE interceptor are the only more nimble), the sad thing is, not many imperial pilots knew how to use it to its full advantage. many pilots however did such as fel squadron, and they where rightly feared.

the fact that they are dirt cheep is just a nice bonus.

sadly compared to the X-WING where durability and firepower where the defining areas they found them selves a little lacking

another thing to think about is when the fighter was designed. the clone wars when the republic won almost every battle, but barely survived because of dirt cheap pure number tactics that the CIS used.

TIE is an improvement on the V-WING used by republic foreces at the end of that war.

Hey are you guys planning on adding the assault gunboat or other alternative for the empire proper's 4th fighter?

We do have the Assault Gunboat in the mod, they are just deployed in limited numbers by either Darth Vader or the ISD-I's Deploy Gunboat's ability.

I was thinking something for the forth slot on capital ships. For some reason it annoys me intensely to see that tie defender I can never have.
