Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. Begun, a new conflict has.
Imperial forces of Wrath Squadron (Specifically, Battlegroups Subjugator and Imperius)take Dathomir from the New Republic forces defending it.
New Republic?
He means Rebels, but the New Republic is the next faction on the to do list.
New Republic is formed after the death of Emperor and Darth vader..read the books, there's tons of them
You're not wrong. However, this mod operates in its own timeline with its own lore, and a different date/circumstances for the formation of the NR. I might suggest you read the news articles that contain the stories...there's several of them. And they're quite well done :-D
So... Imperials, Warlords, New Republic (Different from Rebellion), Rebellion which logically should have changed their name because they are a major power now, and then VCC, VIR, TEC, HTS, Orthodox and Ascended Advent. Any other factions that will be playable, in the distant future?
The Rebels are more powerful than they were in the films, but they are still not really a government. The New Republic and Rebels are basically two coins of the same side, unlike all the other subfactions; it's just the Rebel military is focused on guerrilla strikes in Imperial territory while the New Republic's top priority is protecting member worlds who have already gained their freedom.
No other factions are confirmed. I won't say it is impossible that there will be more, but that is a separate decision that will be made after the original vision of the mod is finished, I.e. official release.
Oh we've read a ton of the books. If you've play the mod or read the lore posts I think you'll quickly realize that. :p But we have changed the post Endor EU timelines to fit the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire in.
In this mod, the Rebels and New Republic coexist, with the Rebels basically acting as the the covert operations/raiding arm of the New Republic.
Alright then. However; do you think (your timeline, I have no idea where you're going with this) that the Yuuzhan Vong would stifle their approach because a few more puny meatbags showed up?
This mod will not be going to the Yuuzhan Vong war. You the player take over the story in 9 ABY, 5 years after Endor/The Sins faction arrival. The Yuuzhan Vong War begins in 25 ABY. So they are quite a ways off, though the few people who know about them like Thrawn and perhaps Vader know they need to get the galaxy reunited before they arrive.
Just as a lore debate though, I would argue having Vader alive (possibly) and perhaps a stronger Empire in a galaxy where everyone has been building fleets as fast as possible would make things more difficult for the Vong. The New Republic was basically taking it easy after the peace with the Imperial Remnant; they were no longer prepared for war. The question is, does the destruction the Interregnum Wars brought to the galaxy outweigh the increase in military preparedness.
It is possible a Vong scouting force could show up as a minor faction or something, but they will not be a full, playable faction.
I actually had no idea how far off the Yuuzhan Vong War was, I actually though it'd be closer than that, to be honest.
If you are going to implement a Vong scouting force, I think it'd be nice to have as a Random event like the Mad Vasari Titan... Speaking of which, are there any smaller 'Warlords' that have taken just one or two systems under their control? I know they haven't been mentioned but, again, your timeline. :P
There's tons of minor warlords. That's basically what the "Rogue Imperials" minor faction is. Most of them just haven't been named, and probably a lot of them were not Warlords in the EU. And some like Screed who were minor Warlords are not in Interregnum.
Actually there has been at least one minor Warlord mentioned in the lore. If you look on the lore central thread that's linked from the main thread, you'll find there is actually more lore than just the timelines. Including this. Moddb.com
That's what I was thinking. Would it then be viable for roaming Imperial fleets to attack the galaxy (Again, like the Mad Vasari Titan)?
Damn that's a gorgeous shot. How do you remove the UI in game to take that?
Check your keybindings. Default is Shift+Ctrl+Z
Ctrl+shift+Z
are there any other old school ships on the way too? : 3 i loved addign the providence/venators to my fleets
More are planned, but not for any particular update.
awesome! will rebellion still be getting CIS ships and Empire republic? or will it be mixed? will there be more kinds of ships than ive listed? sorry if i ask alot im just excited
I doubt the Rebels/Empire will be getting any more Clone Wars era ships (though if I get a good model I might replace the Rebel Providence with the Rebel One modified version). But don't worry, we have other plans for them.
And before someone gets the wrong idea, no, we are still not adding Republic/CIS factions.
