Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. Begun, a new conflict has.
This may look like an Imperial Star Destroyer, but look at the underside of the ship and you'll notice it lacks the ISD's large hangar bay. Based off an odd ISD model in Return of the Jedi, the Tector class Star Destroyer is one of the Empire's main battleships, trading its TIE fighter wing for heavier armor and a larger reactor core. While built in far fewer numbers compared to the Imperial Class, the Tector has proven itself to be extremely useful in the Great Interregnum, where the focus on large space battles plays directly into this class' strengths.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's one of the main ships, it's very specialized capital counter ship that needs fighter coverage to survive :D
That is true, but said it was one of the main "battleships", not a main warship. The Empire had very few large ships that were all guns and no fighter or land forces, the only other one I can think of is the Allegiance class Battlecruiser, and there are definitely more Tectors than Allegiances. :p
I find the Allegiances class a bit funny when it's a battlecruiser, that in real life were smaller than battleship, even though it is huge.
Historically battlecruisers were just battleships that gave up some heavy armor for greater speed. They generally had the same sized guns as battleships, they only had lower displacement due to the lack of armor. In fact the Germans almost finished some battlecruisers in WWI with bigger guns than their battleships.
Also in the Star Wars classification system, Star Battlecruisers fit between Star Destroyers/Star Cruisers and Star Dreadnaughts. Since the Allegiance is indeed between an ISD and the Executor in size it fits pretty well here I think. The only odd thing is that normal "Cruisers" (not Star Cruisers) are smaller than Star "Destroyers" in Star Wars, but they might mean cruiser in the sense the ship can operate long distances by itself, like in the age of sail days. Also the American Navy is now building a Destroyer bigger than any of her cruisers, and really since WWII cruisers and destroyers have started to become more similar to each other.

You say battlecruisers are battleships with less armor, I say they are cruisers with heavier armaments. (Also, I realized the moment I had written the last comment that the ships are called x destroyers)
But, then again, that is not the only strange/odd thing about star wars universe :D
There should have been a star wars rts game based on this game engine. Thank god we have a modding community
Did the tector have a highly armored and slightly protruding core bubble underneath? Or am I thinking of something else.
Fairly sure that was the normal Imperial 1 and/or 2, the lack of hangar bay was to remove that "bubble" weak spot.
Both of the Imperial class Star Destroyers definitely have the armored bubble dome to protect part of the main reactor. Technically we are not entirely sure about the Tector, since we have not had an official picture of one. There is just that scene in Return of the Jedi that is believed to be a Tector. However, our best guess is that it does not have one, since the reactor can take the space where the hangar bay used to be and from this presumed image. Static2.wikia.nocookie.net
Ah makes sense.
when this mod would be released for download.....???
