"As it stands, you can still enjoy Star Wars comics, novels, and games as an interpretation of an established lore, but constructing a timeline will no longer be an option. In other words, not much has changed for me since that’s exactly what I’ve been doing ever since I played Shadows of the Empire on the Nintendo 64."

Exactly. Not sure why people are getting so much sand in their panties over this.

worst decision ever, enough said... the EU is full of awesome content... now you just want to throw it all away because the producers don't like the idea of the killik wars, the yuuzhan vong war, admiral thrawn and the imperial remnant and the new republic? no, screw it, as I just said, worst decision ever...

Bane is not real, Revan and malak are not real, Vitiate is not real, Bastila is not real, Nihilus is not real, Cognus is not real, Lumiya is not real, Caedus and the wholes skywalker family in the EU is not real, Krayt is not real, darth tenebrous is not real (wasn't metioned in the movies, yet he trained PLAGUEIS)

what do we have left? technically nothing... just the movies... it just isn't enough, people say things like what Gen_Rhys_Dallows said, but for me, it kills something inside me now that all the cool characters DO NOT EXIST.

Because the EU was a mess. Imagine every fan wrote a star wars story with permission from Lucas Film. How many contradictions do you think their would be.
Here check this image out for illustration.

The bottom one is the current Timeline because of all the EU stuff. The top is the goal this big group at Lucas Film hopes to accomplish.

Oh wait, EU meaning expanded universe. *facepalm*

I honestly see nothing wrong with the EU, it's very interesting to me.

Well hold on a sec. I'm fairly certain all of the old republic content is real. It wasn't part of the EU, it was always canon because it came out in the video games. It's not like books with those, those have to be canon.

Understandable, but heartbreaking.

I was really happy with this decision. Sure the stories are no longer cannon but they still exist, they have coll characters and events and can still be read, digested, enjoyed. Even better than that Disney aren't going to be slowly dismantling it, they aren't going to rewrite one story and torch another; they're just starting afresh, their own take a new story starting where we all agree on what happened. I like the decision. It was the best one they could've made.

Honestly, and I know people will flame me for saying, I have never really cared about "canon". I watched all the movies, even the vague one with the Ewoks saving a kid, read almost all the books, and enjoyed the multiple tv series they produced. But I never once cared about the "canon" of things. I enjoyed Star Wars because it was always wonderfully entertaining. Enjoy the books, the series, the movies, games, the old AND the new. It's all there for our entertainment, so don't look at the reset as a bad thing. It's just an opportunity for more to enjoy.

Thank you, Yuichi. Exactly what I think. I was always a fan of Star Wars before anything else - and if anything had 'Star Wars' in the name, I would check it out. Were there things I didn't care for as much? Sure. That goes with anything, but I'm not going to just up and rage and get my panties in a twist. I'm just going to enjoy what's given to me or just walk away for a little bit and come back. There's a difference between being a fan and being a whiny person who wants everything the way they want it or else it's 'crap'. I can't stand those types of people.

So the Characters of Mara Jade, Grand Admiral Thrawn, Daala and Tennel Ka never existed? and all those writers who bent over backwards to not only keep their books in continuity with the movies but with all previous books have just been told to "take a flying leap"?
