With it's loss Qo'Nos is massively affected and an estimated 50 years of life is estimated for the planet, the heart of the Klingon Empire is dying. Gorkon the then Chancellor and leader of the Klingon Empire, understands that to survive the Empire can no longer stay in a state of cold war with the Federation, and so extends peace offerings to the Federation. Description

The turbulent 2280's showed Starfleet that while the fleet was utilising more advanced technology than they did just over a decade ago, many of their larger more powerful designs were never refitted, deemed too expensive for the overhaul. Other powers notably the Klingon's had no such concerns as they produced more powerful designs and a fleet wide review in comparison with the intelligence that Starfleet Intelligence had managed to gather from the Empire showed that if open war started, Starfleet would be at the loosing end and so it was decided to revisit the Proxima class. Rather than refitting it like the Constitution and Detroyat classes which Starfleet found to still be too expensive, it was decided in the long run it was cheaper to build a fleet of new Proxima's from the ground up using the new technology. Modifications to the design also allowed for additional hangars to be included allowing the class to also function as a fighter carrier if the need arose and in peacetimes as a large evacuation platform. However due to the cost of producing such vessels only four were ever produced, noteably the USS Proxima, USS Missouri, USS Bismarck and USS Okinawa.

Here she is the last of the Federation ships, when deciding on a Battleship, two designs jumped out at me, the Proxima and Yamato. I decided for what I was after the Proxima was the best choice, despite my dislike of dual hull designs. She is a lot larger than most ships (except the Ulysses). With this model I decided to go back and remake the nacelle I originally did and also make a second upside down nacelles. I never liked the other models out there that do a quick flip and paste. I wanted the the top nacelles to look they are meant to be that way. So this ship did take a lot longer than I wanted but in the end I am happy in how it turned out. There is also a variant of her that uses a Ulysses rollbar for additional torpedo offensive power.

Model and texture by me, Majestic.
