It's likely it acts the same as a Vasari Phase Gate. Much like the Stargates do in the Stargate mod.

Or, it's entirely possible that it's a unique Gravity well type similar to wormholes. Depends on what route the team took with it.

From the effect in the center of it, I think these work like the Vasari Phase Gates.

that was a ****** way to end the series. it doesn't make any sense for admiral Janeway from the future didn't use the conduits and the events on the way back is what inspired her to go back in time as well. Because Janeway took a 'shortcut' she did not go through the same events inspiring her to go back in time and besides wouldn't the federation from the future step in and prevent this event from even occuring

Yeah, but... That's how Voyager Paradoxes work. There isn't a huge change in anything if something comes back from the future to alter the past. Both exist. Or maybe they split into different quantum realities. The only terrible thing was that some idiot decided to make the Borg Queen say "I'll kill Captain Janeway and therefore Admiral Janeway will not exist in the future". That's her being delirious though, right?

yea idiotic thing for the queen to say but true, it's just an irritatingly big stupid paradox my 6 year cousin can spot out also how come the future federation didn't get involved

Well, I'd go and say... Because Future Federation does not have time travel. The one she got it from was a one time machine with no chances of coming back. She got it from Klingons in a secret (also probably illegal) research project. And she was able to keep it under wraps for the most part but her friends figured it out and they sent Harry Kim to stop her before she entered the Time Vortex, but she was able to convince him that it was the right thing to do.

they do in fact throughout ds9, tng and voyager the furutre federation's temporal ships travel back in time to enforce the temporal directive almost a dozen times and every time they say kirk was the biggest offender

Not the same Future Federation. The one she Interfered in was only 20 years off and will benefit the future of the federation by bringing Specialized armor and weapons from the future. The instances where the 29th century Federation interfered was due to dangers to them only. Explosion of a TimeShip, Captain Braxton escaping etc...

They didn't help Voyager when it was being pushed out of time by the Krenim Warship either.

Besides, The future is in continuous quantum flux. For all we know, in their history, Voyager did destroy the Borg and came back home early.

Like a great man once said, "It's all like a big ball of Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey... Stuff."

im gonna put this into dot points for you

1.by future federation i meant the 29th century federation

2.even if future Janeways actions would help the federation it's forbidden by the temporal directive in fact both Janeways violated the directive

3. 29th century FED. gets involved with all FED. Temporal violations

4.the 29th century FED. knew voyager would restore the timeline and most likely didn't want to pollute the time line even more

5.in "their" history voyager could only destroy the Borg because of a major temporal violation and help from the "future" Janeway

anything else??, and link to the temporal prime directive below

I think what everyone means to say is "that's a well made gate isn't it? Your arguments are making my head hurt. I hereby end them by suggesting that the only viable way to restore the timeline is to murder Harry Kim.
