S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - PreSky is a Total Conversion mod for Clear Sky, set before the events in Clear Sky begin. Its goal is to provide a fresh new game experience from the point of a regular Stalker within the Zone. This basically means that the mod has complete and total freeplay from the start. PreSky combines some of the best elements and ideas from all 3 games in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series to produce a brand new gameplay experience within the Zone, with the sole intention of creating a more realistic Stalker experience that aims to make the player believe they are a Stalker. There is no main storyline progression to unlock new areas, or new items for the player. The Zone goes on living regardless of the actions of the player, with a virtually unrestricted alife that makes the Zone seem even more alive and real than it did before. The only storyline is the one you create for yourself.

What's the number that keeps popping up on screen? Is it like an fps counter for testing purposes or running speed? A position help?

And basically, you start in Cordon as a Loner and then you do what ever you could want to do?

The center numbers by the crosshair that keep changing are crosshair distance. That can be enabled in the options; I use it during testing to show distance to objects.

This is without a doubt an awesome mod; you do in fact start in the Cordon, as a Loner, and from there, you have total freedom of choice. Think about Shadow of Chernobyl when you weren't doing the main story quests; all of the side quests and optional quests that added so much replay value to the game; this is essentially what you have here - and it's very well done.

I've lost count of how many new missions there are to be had from various npc's. One of the reasons this version has taken so long is the amount of pain scripts have given me. I've had to write scripts for sleeping, task selection, new dialogs, random stash content, npc looting, blah, blah, logic configs for some npcs (about a months worth of headaches right there).
Anyway, once I've got the bugs worked out, and everything balanced for some of the new stuff, I'll release here. I've got a small team working out the bugs already. I've learnt my lesson from v0.3. Should only be a few more days.
