S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - PreSky is a Total Conversion mod for Clear Sky, set before the events in Clear Sky begin. Its goal is to provide a fresh new game experience from the point of a regular Stalker within the Zone. This basically means that the mod has complete and total freeplay from the start. PreSky combines some of the best elements and ideas from all 3 games in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series to produce a brand new gameplay experience within the Zone, with the sole intention of creating a more realistic Stalker experience that aims to make the player believe they are a Stalker. There is no main storyline progression to unlock new areas, or new items for the player. The Zone goes on living regardless of the actions of the player, with a virtually unrestricted alife that makes the Zone seem even more alive and real than it did before. The only storyline is the one you create for yourself.

Report RSS Progress Update 3

Quick review of what I'm doing on v1.0 so far. And the summary field (this) must be at least 50 characters long. <sigh> I don't like word limits.

Current Progress on v1.0:

So, I've begun work on v1.0 at long last, throwing out my previous buggy gamedata's, and developing on a brand new beast of a machine.
So, what have I been doing recently?

Completed Recently

  • The new inventory! (at least for users with 4:3 screens)
  • The Helmet feature (I think. I haven't had any crashes with it for a while.)
  • Developing a script which will randomly distribute weapons to npc's.
  • Added the ability for the Tactical Sphere 08 helmet to mark enemy squad leaders on the minimap when worn.

In Progress:

  • Plenty!
  • Adding new Weapons. I've got 10 working an ingame. Still a few more to add.
  • Adding new Suits. Um, I've been a bit slack there. Only one. But my time has been taken up with redoing the stats on existing suits, and getting the helmet feature ready, so, yeah.
  • New/redesigned artifacts: There will be 30+ artifacts, and 18 of them are completed. So a fair bit of progress here.
  • New alife features: This is quite a biggy. I've spent some time on trying to replicate Call of Pripyat style alife, with Stalkers leaving camps and exploring the Zone during the day, returning during the night, and hiding from emissions. This is nearly done, and more military styled factions will have additional behaviour, such as taking points of strategic interest to them. Mutants have been divided into day and night mutants, with them retreating to camps deep in the wilderness at different times of day, depending on the species. Also, I have had limited success in implementing mutant on mutant combat. Still a little buggy, but I hope to work this out, and have it completed successfully.

To Do:

  • Your not getting your hands on the complete feature list - yet.
  • Finish everything in the 'In Progress' list

I'll update this list every now and then as I complete a feature, or start work on a new feature, or fixed a bug thats cropped up.
And as for a release date - some time later on this year, hopefully. Or it will be done when its done.

As always, happy Stalking!

A-Life stuff is really good to hear, I hate vanilla Clear Sky's A-Life system. All they ever seem to be doing is running between strategic points.

Well, they still run about. But now they run back to base at night. Who in their right mind would be out at night with Bloodsuckers and Chimera's on the prowl?
And they run around in the day too. But at least I haven't seen any of the 'lets bunch up and wait to attack, giving the enemy enough time to go to cover' behaviour either. I think I've disabled that, which IMO, is a plus.

Cop A life niiice.

In vanilla they just guard postions and run between em like Sclera said. It's like they explored the whole zone and now they just have nutin to do but fight for positions.

Good to hear ur doin a good progress.

Keep it up :D
