Slipstream: The Price of Freedom takes place during the many battles of the Freedom war, a 300-year long war between the UNCG (United Nations Central Government) and DSCG (Dominion of Super Conglomerate Governments). The year is 2631, The climax of this massive war. It has been noted to be the bloodiest and longest war ever fought by humanity. Thousands of battles are taking place all over the milky way, fleets confront each other, planets are being bombarded. Take a role in a skirmish battle, choose a side, and choose a theatre, fight for your cause. Take your fight to the campaign and follow one fleet as it delivers the final crippling blow to the DSCG and it's religious overlords. Choose a side and fight for your freedom, but before you do, ask yourself this: At what cost?

February has been a dull development month for every member of the team. However, in that time frame we have manage to tweak TPOF on various levels. We have introduced a new physics model for ships, and we have also created a very interesting weaponry system. This new system is divided into two parts. The first, stops ships from targeting turret subsystems directly. The reason behind this, is that most of the time, the AI or even Human players will try to knock off turrets and be destroyed themselves. Well, now we have something called “Splash damage”. Splash damage is a system that allows ships to not target subsystems, but shoot places on the ship, and it will cause an area of the ship to become effected. Thus, if a nuke goes off near a subsystem, it will take damage. But the nuke cannot directly target a turret. However, you can still target turrets with drones and corvettes, and also target non-weapon subsystems with large ships. The second part, is the addition of small defense turrets on ships. These tiny turrets keep small ships away, but can still pack a punch against frigates and destroyers, but mostly, they are used for drone defense. Our next topic, Is that I am proud to announce the addition of custom models into TPOF. They should be appearing soon, with out newest additions being a new UNCG Super carrier, and a new DOL Carrier. If you have any texturing experience, and would like to aid in the texturing of these models, please let us know, we could use the help. Last, but not least, is that we would like to announce that an updated Slipstream Universe will ship with TPOF v2.4. It will have the updated main menu, as well as a PDF file containing secret documents, and a back story to the Slipstream universe. Who knows, we may start a small alternate reality game if we get the chance. So, stay tuned, and thank you for your support. TPOF v2.4 is on the way.
