Situation Outbreak is an Orange Box mod about the impending zombie apocalypse. Armed with nothing but a 9mm and a pair of brass knuckles, you must do whatever it takes to survive against the thousands of zombies that used to be your friends and neighbors. The cost of failure is nothing less than your free will. There are no heroes. No single person can save the world and there are not enough bullets to go around. The only thing left to do is to kill the damned, hoping that you don’t end up like them.

Again, just like the SUNDAY! SUNDAY!! SUNDAY!!! video, this is just something the team came up with to showcase some of the features we've been working on for the next release of Situation Outbreak. Enjoy. =)

You can certainly think of it like that if it helps you understand its purpose. Same goes with the boomer bile from L4D2. Zombait functions slightly differently from these two weapons though.

So did you come up with this idea before or after you played L4D2? ;)

Not saying its a bad idea but your going to get some people accusing you of stealing the idea

Actually, I'll be honest and say I thought of it after playing many hours of L4D2. =P ... I know they are similar, but there are differences, primarily that the zombies go to a particular location, not attack each other, making it far more useful in combat if you just want to get them off your ***. I like to think of it as how the bile bomb should have been designed in the first place. ^_^ ... nevertheless, a valid point, so thank you for bringing that up.

Oh, I believe you might have been thinking of the pipebomb as well. Yeah, well as long as we incorporate some of the good ideas from the L4D series but still make them very much our own with custom content, I don't think people mind, right? =D

Like that "SUNDAY!" thing, but please try to revision some old stuff too, right? Anyway I would still like to see some slower reloadings and more realism!

jamespizzurro Nov 30 2009, 3:24pm replied:

Totally 100% realistic reloads is something we're against doing in this mod. That's because we're going for fast-paced, almost arcade-style gameplay unlike the other zombie-based mods out there for Source. Not only does it make us stand out, but it also helps the mod's replay value.

Just thought of this but what happens if you throw it some place weird like up into the air and it hits the skybox? Will the zombies just gather around underneath of it or will they attempt to get as close to that part of the skybox :O

Assuming the zombies wouldn't be able to access that area of the map, they would just stand around for a couple seconds instead of going to the location of the throw. Good question.

That is stealing l4d2s idea. You can steal all you want, But l4d2 will still always be better because it is a real game and not some ****** mod with poorly made weapons and such.

Bottom line: L4D and L4D2 were made by a company who pays their employees. Situation Outbreak was not. You get what you pay for.

Its not even realistic looking either. The thing is basically a grenade with some different skin, and seeing those zombies go after it, Really glitchy and ****

Are you saying that there is such a thing as Zombait? If so, I'd love to see a photo. And the thing works just fine actually as long as you aren't a moron and throw it up on a roof or in a crevice or something.
