Until the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States had remained out of the Asian and European conflict. Four days after Pearl Harbor, on December 11th, Nazi Germany declared war on the United States drawing America into a two-theater war. The Japanese began a relentless assault on strategic Allied strong holds. Japanese aircraft had all but eliminated Allied air power in South-East Asia and were making attacks on northern Australia. By February of 1942, Japanese air power had driven the British fleet out of Ceylon. It was obvious, the Allies needed to re-group. Allied resistance, at first shambolic, gradually began to stiffen. After the Allied navies were narrowly defeated in tactical terms at the Battle of Coral Sea it still managed to derail a Japanese naval attack on Port Moresby, New Guinea. The crucial Battle of Midway followed in June and the fortunes of war could easily have given either side the victory, but the Japanese naval aviation suffered a devastating defeat from which it never recovered. Nevertheless, the Japanese land forces continued to advance. Hard fought battles at Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and others resulted in horrific casualties on both sides, but finally produced a Japanese retreat. In a devastating blow to the Japanese moral, the United States attacked two cities with nuclear weapons; these were a well-kept secret until August 6th, when Hiroshima was destroyed with a single atomic bomb, as was Nagasaki on August 9th. In Japan, August 15th Imperial Japan surrendered to the Allied forces. The battle in the Pacific was a ferociously fought war that caused millions of casualties. The shores and beaches will now be glorified and honored for all the brave men, women and children that lost their lives.

Shores of Glory (SoG) is a total conversion modification for Half-Life 2. You must have a copy of Half-Life2 and a Steam account to play this mod.

The primary goal of Shores of Glory is to completely immerse the player into the battles on the Pacific front. In doing so, we hope to realistically and as accurately as possible portray the events and actions taken by all sides of the Pacific conflict. It is important to note that we feel that it is the game play that makes the game and therefore we will try to not allow realism to affect game play in a negative way.

Our mod was originally geared for DoD:S. We've recenetly switched it out to be a third party using the source engine. So it will be like what RO is. It will have it's own exe.
