I would just like to say that I feel honored to have the continuous support of a few familiar names that keep popping up with generous compliments whenever we post something. We really appreciate it, and it's tremendously motivating to see you guys really 'get' what we are trying to do with this project.

Cheers, guys.

well awesomeness must be rewarded ! plus the concepts are just so well thought out! like who would think of putting a metal helmet under a hood which actually makes sense! the hood provides a chance to be hidden while you've got some actual protection underneath.

It's one of the main things that stood out to me when I was planning on making them. I knew when I read that line, they needed a variation of that.

My only suggestion would be to cover all their mouths with the cloth it make them look more uniform an commando like >:D or at least the hood variant, his mouth just feels weird to me but none the less their pretty epic.

Yeah. They could've totally showed up in The Two Towers, if you ask me.

We have plans to integrate them into the campaign to sort of make us feel better about this missed opportunity.

Those are very well done models and textures. I especially like the star brooch and the gambeson on the right Ranger. The asymmetrical textures look also really nice on all three of them.

Giving them gondorian helmets (and surcoats, kinda) is an interesting decision. I always thought that the Dunedain of Arnor would have their own style of armor. Same goes for the triangular leather piece on their chests, which in my mind always was a unique jerkin of the southern Ithilien Rangers. But I guess you could say that they adapted the clothes/armors from their southern cousins.

What is a bit weird though in my opinion, is that they depart a bit from the book description that you posted. There it says cleary: There was NO gold, NOR any fair thing in all their gear, NOR did they bear any badge or token. The gold rimmed helmets with the engraved wings and the surcoat with the white tree is exactly that though.
I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't posted the quote, but now I'd say they might be a bit more lore-accurate without those details.

Just a well-meant suggestion. They are nevertheless of very high quality.

From what I took on that quote is that their GARB bore "no gleam of stone or gold." And I made sure that they had none of that save the brooch as you can see. Halbarad has the Númenorean White Tree due to his standing as the de-facto captain of the Grey Company.

The helms were born out of a different quote:

"They are strange company, these newcomers,' said Gimli. "Stout men and LORDLY they are, and the Riders of Rohan look almost as boys beside them..."

I decided to go with the Gondorian Fountain Guard style due to the Lordly description Gimli gave of them. (But also because they look damned cool with them xP) Same for the gugel. Although I would argue that gugels were fairly common in our own medieval times and having the Northern and Southern Dúnedain both wearing them wouldn't be too far-fetched.

Either way I appreciate the praise Adamin :D

Oh so those are gugels. Okay then. :D

Its just a nitpicky thing anyway. The triangular shape just reminds me of the Ithilien Rangers. There this actually wasn't a gugel, but a kind of leather gorget that held the cloak in place.

Gorgets! That's the name I was looking for. I always get them confused. xD

Anyways that's besides the point. :P I do see where you're coming from though

Btw I was wondering is it possible to give them somewhat different Helmets, because they look too much like Gondors or at least make them not so Pointy on the top because I think it would have looked quite funny under the hood with POinty Helmet XD

No. In game they look different enough and Mathijs and I are both happy with them as is. Hoods may sit funny over them in real life but luckily this is a game so we don't have that problem.

Description

"A little apart the Rangers sat, silent, in an ordered company, armed with spear and bow and sword. They were clad in cloaks of dark grey, and their hoods were cast now over helm and head. Their horses were strong and of proud bearing, but rough-haired; and one stood there without a rider, Aragorn's own horse that they had brought from the North; Roheryn was his name. There was no gleam of stone or gold, nor any fair thing in all their gear or harness; nor did their riders bear any badge or token, save only that each cloak was pinned upon the left shoulder by a brooch of silver shaped like a rayed star."

At the behest of Lady Galadriel, Halbarad and the Dúnedain rode south to the aid of their King. We plan on representing this by giving Gondor a new 3rd tier power which will summon the grim northerners. More about this addition will be coming soon!

Enjoy!
