New terran factory unit: The Diamondback
Can fire on the move
Deploy shield ability: reduce any incoming damage by 25% but reduce move speed by 50%
Shaped hull upgrade: increases armor by 1 and reduce explosive damage by 25% (it stack with shield ability, so having the upgrade and the shield deployed makes to reduce explosive damage by 50%)
P:D: Turret and attack migth be changed in the future. But for this release will be kept as in the video
It actually looks cool and resembles the SC2 DiamondBack in the overall look.
Potentially Maybe give it a Helion attack flame.
Actually I don't agree with myself on this one, just thought laser span over distance, so does the flame.
If you'd get the SC2 Diamondback, even color adapted to fit among SC1 units, would you think the design is too different?
I would like to have a turret more in the shape of the SC2 diamondback. But will work on the graphic later

What is the disadvantage of turning on shields? (speed only?)
There would be no incentive to turn off the shield.
Everybody would always set the shield mode on.
Make it more explicit:
turn on shield = no attack, but 66% damage reduce.
or reduce attack speed, so player would need to consider when he want more defense and when attack power.
or screw it! let it be, let me test it :)
for the attack GRP, would rather see volley of rockets (Goliath/Valkyrie'ske style), instead SiegeTanks shoots.
also would be sweet if Shield skill act as steel plate that eject from front hull and cover vehicle. Maybe during this let turret hide on the side of the hull and change projectile to common cannons.

The first version i made was working the inverse: shield give 50% damage reduction and 50% bonus move speed but no attack. Good to overcome heavy guarded positions, but didnt work well to soak damage, as it wasn't any reason to attack the while them cannot shoot back.
I also test a version with reduced range when shield on but make it too easy to kite the unit. Probably a speed attack reduction will be more appropriate.
Attack graphic actually uses the same inscrip as tank, that's why it uses same overlay/sound and hit. I need to search for a free one to change those things
About the animation sure it will be great but won't happen unless someone do the animation for that :s

Old GRP dont match with turret?
Number wise seems shield does very little vs damage dealt, as far as the upgrade goes, not liking the reduced damage for more hull, but may be a balancing thing you wanted out of this mechanic.
The main point of the shield is to stack it with the upgrade to reduce explosive damage at half. This make it a good counter against certain units, but leaving a weakness against another's.
Also damage reduction happens before armor calculation, so armor upgrade become better while shields on.
For the hull, think it as the improved shape allow it to better deflect and absorb power from explosions

The problem that the Diamondback had in the WoL Campaign is that it's high health, fire on the move, and high damage vs Armored, made it the best unit out of the factory by-far.
This damage reduction ability also looks way too strong.
