Rome Total Realism VII Released to the general public.

The Rome Total Realism team is proud to announce the release of RTRVII. This is the third and final part of the RTRVII project, which started with the release of RTR: The Iberian Conflict (TIC), in January 2008, was followed by RTRVII: Fate of Empires (FOE), in November 2009, and now reaches its culmination here, in RTRVII.

It is with great pride that we present this project to the greater community. Total War Center has been a marvellous home and has been central to the development of this mod. Without the insight of our friends, fans, and partners this project would not be as great as it is today. The developers of this mod thoroughly enjoyed each and every step of the process which led to the culmination of our efforts. We hope that you, as the player, will have as much fun playing, as we had developing RTRVII.

This mod has many strong points (graphic, forts with platforms, very great campaign map, large variety of units for ever faction etc.), but they are some points which i dislike strongly. For me, the mod looks a little bit unfinished. For example, indeed, a very dedicated attention for helenic factions, but the roman one is simply unfinished. The principes are ok, the marian legionnaires to, but then begin the problems. There is no difference between marian cohort and marian first cohort whatsoever. Same stats (although the first cohort contained the best veterans of the legion), but this wouldn't be such of problem, the problema is, it has the same number of men (160). Same stats, same number of men, same morale, but much more expensive. How's that? The segmentata legions is a little joke, weaker than principes, a little better than hastati. Same for the "rome's finest". Weak, useless....the roman elite.
Other problem is with the siege in campaign, reason i abandonned it for. You have stone or even large stone walls, you are under siege, and your men die nearly exponentially from a turn to other. The besieger doesn't attack you, but just wait, and when the number of turns expire, the settlement is lost. Why bother to build walls, which are expensive and took long time to build, if you are constrained to go outside the walls to fight the enemy in open field, in order to keep the settlement.

My to cents, in general about sieges. To take as example a stone wall city, which can resist like 7 turns, in the firsts 2 turns (when the siege equipment is build) no men from the 2 armies (attackers and defenders should die), then each turn will die 1 up 3% from defenders, and up to 6% from attackers or so, and up 8% in case the settlement has large or epic stone and therefore stonger towers. In this way the walls are useful and the besieger is forced to attack, not to obtain something "for free". Otherwise in 4-5 turns, his army will be reduced to 50%. This in my opinion would be a total realism like. For now, no mod has this feature.
