Current Project Status
Over the past few months, the majority of the team has been busy cleaning up bugs, applying balance adjustments, as well as working on some custom video content.
z3r0x has been unable to work on the project and isn't expected to be back to work for a little while. His presence is required before we will be able to begin the Republic at War v1.2 beta period.
We've decided that it is in our best interest to release a content patch this quarter, regardless of when we finish development of the expansion. An in-between game patch will be made available this June. It will resolve the majority of the player complaints that we've been receiving.
More information can be obtained here.
We appreciate everyone's patience and look forward to pushing something out in this first half of the year.
Steam & Disc compatibility Solution
As most of you know, we have been in contact with Petroglyph over the multiplayer compatibility issues between disc and Steam users. The process has become quite lengthy. I'm still waiting on a 4th round of responses regarding the official patch. Because of this delay, we'll be releasing the in-house patching application that will allow FOC players to sync up their games and enjoy playing with their friends who are using a different game medium.
The application supports most popular mods (including Republic at War) but will work just fine for those playing vanilla FoC. A short readme is included. The application is available on ModDB.
This functionality will be built into the upcoming Republic at War 1.2 game launcher as well.
May the 4th be with you,
The Republic at War Mod Team.
Well its an update, I guess not really good or bad news but can't complain, May the 4th be with you as well.
If i had to pick one or the other id pick bad news. I dont have a problem complaining.
Well, it may not be what most of us were hoping for, but as I have said before, and will say again - better to wait for a good, high-quality mod, than have them rush out a half finished buggy mess. I'm still having plenty of fun with the current version! Keep up the amazing work, and I look forward to hearing more news! May the Fourth be with you!
I already knew this was the type update we would see, not a release, which what some people thought it was.
So ..... Maybe at Q4 of 2013, the beta will release ???
Your eyes serve you well, my young padawan.
Sigh, the whole Hangman thing was kinda of a **** move, im just saying, it got a lot of peoples hopes up.
yeah it was pretty idiotic.
Honestly, guys, REALLY? The Hangman thing had us all believing that we were going to get a download, and now it's just a news update telling us we have to wait until October for something. I agree with JAS, we should get a patch sooner.
I would also please ask that we have some more frequent news updates, because I'm interested in the progress here. Please, please, PLEASE give us something, ANYTHING, in the near future!
In total agreement here. I have been watching this mod for a long time like most of you here. I actually made an account just to post this. I get that you all have real lives and it takes time to finish. Honestly I am willing to wait, its no big deal.
However throwing out this charade of "Hangman" getting the community really excited for 5 days in anticipation of a potential 1.2 download, just to have their hopes crushed by stating it won't be out till the end of the year is B.S.
This is a really big disappointment. Bad move on your part guys.
On the bright side, we did squeeze a concession out of them. If anyone has read the now-edited post, we'll have a patch our in June. I am content with that.
I believe, however, the team owes the public an apology. (Fortunately, KillerHurdz has issued one on the main page.)
Relly disappointing I know. That is what I was looking forward to.
I didn't authorize it and took the images down.
You guys would please a lot of fans if you released a bug fix patch sooner than Q4, at least to address the biggest issues. Nothing crazy, no new units or anything, just some updated XML and Lua.
Just my two cents, I don't think it's an impossible feat. Either way, RAW is a great mod and worth the wait, thank you for doing what you do and keep it up.
Not to worry, they will. (Let's hope.)
Norton just blocked two attacks on this page.
a year left..
Filefront is going to be closed down by IGN, btw.
More bad news... ****.
Dear god Q4 @_@. So after 5 days of screwing with us with that little game, you disappoint everyone with this horrible news. I did not expect such a **** move from you guys. May the 4th be with us all :(
something bad must have happened. they really seemed ready to release and i don't think they'd have that game of hangman just to screw with the community. i hope all is well!
Yeahooo !!Patch 1.1.5 will release in this June \m/ !!! Thanks you guys so much :))
Can you guys also ask Petroglyph to fix the Steam version of SWEAW since Steam treats FOC as an expansion so it always opens EAW? :(
They're aware but it's not likely that we'll be getting an official fix.
Do I need to uninstall the previous version RaW 1.1 to play this patch 1.1.5 ??
Wow.... just shoot me in the foot, smack my ***, and beat my monkey. That is all.
Oh my god, last patch was JANUARY 2012, it's been over a year now, and here it clearly says that there won't be another patch till at least Fall 2013. The mod right now is unplayable at least for me, since CIS is ridiculously OP...
Well gentleman, it seems that it was indeed an elaborate ruse after all.
I for one personally love the mod and am happy that someone in the world would put time and effort into such a project. This mod is one word. AWESOME! even though the bugs and AI that doesn't attack often, This is really an awesome game. Was waiting for a mod like this a long time. Keep up the good work. Eagerly waiting for the patch in june and 1.2 :))
pls make the ai don't be so aggressive in early game..
Any fixes to the CIS inactivity in the galactic conquest map?
when this supposed to come out
