Ren40k Flamer
Mar 17, 2009 Weapons Model 1 commentI've decided to release the Ren40k Flamer for public use on the C&C Renegade game. Enjoy!
The scourge of Chaos arrived on a new world: Ziongane. This world was very close to the planet Ultramar, home of the great Space Marines chapter, the Ultramarines. The Imperial garrison on Ziongane, the 51st Battalion, were no match for the daemonic forces, and thus evacuated the planet before the Ultramarines arrived. Viewing the situation from their Battle Barge called The Impetus, Admiral Jaenus, along with Inquisitor Vanri, decided that there was only one way to cleanse the world of this taint, and thus the world was decimated in atomic fire. The Imperial populus of Ziongane were then forced to take shelter on the planet of Ultramar for a time until a new planet was found that could be inhabited.
Deep in the Daedalus System, a home for the Zionganeans was found. The planet, Tirea IV. They moved there post-haste, with Admiral Jaenus in lead of the escort. However, this system is far from peaceful, and the new Tirean populus began creating the Emperor's war-machines again, at their newly developed manufactorums.
At the same time, Admiral Jaenus received a distress signal from the Imperial Lunar-Class Cruiser, the Argus. On his approach, no response came from the ship, not even an identity protocol message. Thus, Jaenus sent a boarding squad of Space Marines to investigate.
enegade X 40,000, once Renegade 40,000, was originally a complete modification for C&C Renegade, but after the Beta Release of Renegade X, an Unreal Tournament 3 modification, the mod has changed. Renegade X 40,000 is now a Total Conversion Mod for Renegade X, essentially changing everything in Renegade X to things from Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe, using the Base Destruction game-type offered, as well as other gameplay types created, such as our own mode of DeathMatch, Capture the Flag, and a new, Dawn of War inspired type of Onslaught. The Global Defense Initiative will be changed into the Imperium of Man, and the Brotherhood of Nod will be changed into the forces of Chaos. Many changes are to be made, such as new buildings, a replacement for the lack of need of a harvester, weapons, characters, maps, etc.
Renegade X 40,000 will change the amount of tactics required to defeat your opponents and win the game; you will need to work together as a team and know which unit/vehicle to use in a certain situation. In Ren-X-40k's default "All Out War", we are adding in an element from other games: Strategic Point capture. This is basically a version of Onslaught with outside influences from the Dawn of War series. The Strategic Points may supply the team with their only income, or perhaps a bonus income, depending on the map. It also gives a point of in-battlefield teleportation for infantry. However, you will not need to link up control nodes to gain access to the enemy's base.
The game will also feature the classic "Base Destruction" gameplay provided in C&C Renegade and Renegade X, or Classic All Out War, as Renegade fans call it, but it will be made more difficult. As a result of the different units and themes, strategy will change, so that many more choices can be made as to how to obtain victory. The map and terrain will also add a lot more to the gameplay and tactics, as cover will be more readily obtainable, etc. This will make tactical opportunities a lot more common, as Snipers will be able to pick off infantry a lot more readily, and in maps such as cities and tunnels, Flamethrower troops will be able to have major use in incinerating large groups of infantry but will have an extremely short range, etc.
There is also heavy consideration about a Single Player campaign, however this would likely be released in a later "patch", after the Multiplayer release.
Mainly every part will be forged or taken from 40,000 concepts; IE Buildings from Dawn of War, Locations from Codex: Cityfight, guns directly from the miniatures, and more.

Good day, everyone, and welcome to the monthly update.
This month, most of the team have been working with a much needed warm-up to the new engine, looking through tutorials and playing with the engine. The difference between the Renegade engine and the UE3 is daunting, and thus it may take some time to figure it all out and learn. But fear not, for we have another new member of our team who already knows the UE3 and is already making some brilliant work! I'd like to introduce Hushpuppy, or Visceral as he's known on our forums.
This month, he's been working on a Defiler and a Dreadnought, among other things. Although it's still a WIP, the Dreadnought is still looking very well done!

I would also like to announce an updated storyline, as well as the fact that our team is currently discussing a Single Player mode. Check above in the Mod Description!
To close, I'd like to let you all know that we have a new set of job applications up;
For applicants, both jobs require a portfolio of the work, knowledge of the applications required for them, and a passion for the Warhammer 40,000 universe is a big plus. Applications can be sent to:

Thanks for tuning in, have a great day!

why did you change it to unreal tournament 3 ?
Better engine, and also now, we're becoming Standalone since the UE3 Source Code was just released! =]
This look like a awesome mod will it be possible to play this on the PS3 verison
Nice to see a mod for a mod ;)
might be late to ask but are you guys gonna try to have the DoW II kind of style or just the DoW I style of building units and buildings? also... anything close to codex?
It's not clear yet.
There have been thoughts about using Dow as reference, but I'd prefer if we would make our own buildings.
To begin we're using the buildings of DoW I and its expansions, but this may very easily change.
well that answers one question... doesnt answer the codex one
Sounds cool
We will be using some parts of RenegadeX's modification, mainly the Base Destruction gameplay, with full credit to RenegadeX for that ;)
So unless I'm very mistaken, you will only need UT3.
