Recent development and improvements on the Soviet Submarine came about and the new Typhoon-Class Submarine was pushed out into service. These powerful nuclear submarines are one of the deadliest forces in the water. Fighting in equal footing against Yuri's own Boomer Attack Sub & the Allied Destroyer. The Typhoon at Elite Rank is given permission to upgrade to torpedoes tipped with depleted uranium leaving a small field of radiation. This same face is what also forced the Typhoon to be fitted with specialized alloys which grant it a much better resistance against radiation.

I also saw that they are NUCLEAR submarines. Is they what they fire or what they run on?
Both, They explode leaving a very small amount of radiation (about 1-3 cells big) when they die. They have armor that makes them slightly more resistant to radiation damage as well. And at elite they upgrade to radiation torpedoes.
