Can't say much about the chassis, not much changed I think.

The chassis didn't change at all, I'll maybe do slightly different markings, but these two ships differs only in weaponry. It shouldn't be a problem, it was the original plan and it seems only logical that a small race would use one ship model with different variations instead of several specialized designs. Plus both are very similar in use, both are agaist frigates and capships (this one maybe won't be able to target frigates, but it will do more damage). And I'm not finding excuses, I just don't feel a need for another hull in this case.
No reason to change it anyways. The idea of a unique chassis for every ship is completely silly. Look at the Vaygr fighters - or corvettes - or any of their ships save caps.
All built on similar designs. Every military in its right mind would do this. It saves production costs, saves maintenance costs and as long as the chassis is good, why not reuse it for multiple purposes.
I'll be very interested to see how the golden plasma bombs come out. I tried a similar thing a while ago but it just refused to work the way I wanted them to.
Oh I'm interested as well, trust me. So far I did only the beam colors, but it shouldn't be much different. I may base it on the Vaygr BC Trinity pulse, just to change the texture to something different and that should do it.
Of course I could base it on missiles as well, but I'd like to try this first.
I just tried that out yesterday.
Surprisingly using a 1-poly model scaled really small and a permanant looping FX works quite well for missiles but I'd say you can do it all with a normal projectile.

Is the lighting on the hull an effect of the homeworld 2.0 shaders?
No those are normal lights, the same effect as the interior docking bay lighting of large ships.

It was a full race that you would select instead of Hiigaran or Vaygr. I don't recommend following suit.
Wait, no interaction with AI pirates at all? Just a race and that was it? I actually imagined it as in the SOASE, not literally, but at least more than a simply one extra race (for example you hire them, but they are independent AI or something).

Those are some nice turrets. Fairly original design to them, though I do think I know the inspiration/subconscious instipation to them.
I like their overall design quite a lot, but since it is my habbit to find SOMETHING to improve on, I think they are a little bit too sharp/edgy. I'm thinking that removing the upper three spikes on the front of the turret will help the overall look.
I've realized that what makes me like this ship so much is the non-straight orientation of the engines and the turrets. Neither of the engines face exactly backwords, and none of the turrets face exactly forewards. I hope that this is a key design aspect of the race, and that the other ship(s) will be similar in this way. But to be honest, there is no race in the Homeworld universe (cannon or fannon) that has off-centered facing engines or turrets. Yet the look fits quite well, especially if compared to HW1 and HWC ships.
You do know where the inspiration for the turrets came from? Then tell me what you have on mind, I did had some things I was inspired from when I made the ship itself, but these turrets are purelly the result of searching the shape by drawing -first was an eliptical base with the muzzle similar to the USB connector.
People on relicnews were saying that the first kinetic turret is far too simple, to add some polygons, now you're saying to remove the geometry from the second turret, I have to say that this is an interesting situation. But no, I won't remove the spikes, I know they are like a fork, but I like them.

Actually I really like this Spikes, and would rather like the Turrets of the First Design more edgy...but you can keep them like that...I'm shure that it helps to destinguish the two ship-types when you have so different Turrets. Can't wait to see the third (Last?) Ship of this Race.
Just as an Idea for a name: try stitching a few ancient hebrew names together.... they seem to just work really well whenever I need a name for something...

Ah, well then if the turrets were a result of thoughful experimentation, then I see some convergent evolotuion happening between the Kushan Heavy Cruisers ion cannon turrets, and this ships plasma turrets. In other words, I thought this version of these turrets were inspired by the HC turrets, but it appears to actually be a case of convergent evolution. In any case, I like them well enough.

alot of other mods have used the two destroyers the pirates have in the pirate mod but i dont know if thats where they originated or not. my favorite is still the battleship its just awesome when you see 26 triple turrets blasting away at something. but every ship with alot of guns is silly.

I really like the design of this ship. It seems to me like the the weaponry is almost as much an exhaust port for the massive engine, like it is launching gobs of expended plasma or something similar... just a little of my mind trying to wrap around the fictitious but feasible design systems lol.
