yeh does look good, think it lacks some detail though, i mean no ones room is that clean, maybe have some dust and comic books, or just random **** under the bed... you could have the dust like "tumbleweed" could look funny.. i don't know.. just giving some suggestions
thats called quality mapping. high res textures are used so it doesnt look like **** when you make the map makes the map so much better. if only VALVe could learn from that. using tiny 256x256 or 512x512 textures isnt good enough anymore. they should be using 2048x2048 minimum. with the advancement of gfx cards in the past few years, we can all handle the texture processing.
Crytek is guilt of this too apparently. CryEngine 2 can support even higher resolution textures than Source, but I've heard that many textures in Crysis were pretty low resolution, and I did notice this quite a few times.
