In my case this is good update as you will present us better quality units. So keep up the work, you have my support.

I'm glad you found out about AO baking. It's quite easy to use with smaller units, but what if you have to use it on large objects? I recommend watching my tutorial! Youtube.com

Thanks, and I appreciate the guide. But the thing about Substance Painter, is it can do it all in house. I set my settings (In this case I used AA 8x, 160 on the secondary ray, and everything else was standard), set it to bake (Which took about 8 minutes), export and apply as a multiply layer over the base texture.

Careful with those types of software. makes sure you understand baking and PBR first.
The tutorial is more about the usage of seamless textures in combination with an AO map using the alamo shaders. it would actually be a mistake to texture large spaceships in SP. Especially if you dont have a proper high poly

Never really understood, or appreciated AO mapping before, but damn that looks so much better.

I know it's not much of an update, but I thought it might be neat to show off how drastically some stuff can change with a simple 10 minute bake.
