Dust off that Hyperblaster, and get out your Railgun. You're going back to Stroggos to play Quake II like you've never played it before. Quake II: Source brings the action-packed alien-blasting excitement of Quake II to Valve's Source engine for another few rounds of fragtastic deathmania.
What is Quake II: Source?
Quake II: Source is a port of Quake II in the form of a content pack for Half-Life Deathmatch: Source, but may one day become a standalone mod with full singleplayer support.
Why port to Source?
Although the original Quake II's multiplayer community is still somewhat alive, the original engine lacks a directory service or server browser. Consolidation is another good reason. One could play Quake II and both mission packs all the way through without quitting. Ragdoll physics, per-material effects, and reflective water are also good reasons to attempt to remaster this epic first person shooter.

Welcome back to another one of Quake II: Source's exciting updates! Now that we're back on track, I'm trying to update frequently. The big thing we're focusing on now is how we should release this mod without getting sued. It uses content from Quake 2, so we had to devise a way to make it so we can release it. There will be a protection system, where you have to own Quake 2 to continue installing the content. We don't know exactly how to release this. Make you wait a long time and release it at once, or release little packs like "Quake II: Source Model Pack" and addons for each thing like "Quake II: Source Map Pack 2" Either way, each installer would have the system packaged in to make sure you have the content. Hopefully, that way we can avoid any conflicts with id software. I'd like some input on you guys on how we should release the mod. We're also looking for coders, modelers, and mappers who can assist us with this huge project. By the way, Sehnsucht uploaded a video you might want to check out.
Thanks,
Robomanz0r
