The main intent of this modification is vanilla experience with overhauled graphics sounds, bug fixes and high attention to details. Changing some aspects of the game without flipping the gameplay upside down. This is simply an overhaul to vanilla gameplay that will allow you to experience this game as close as it was those 14 years ago and without trying to make the game tryhard-core or unfair toward the player in any other way.
Q: Why didn't i add "this" or "that"?
A: I either didn't like it or i didn't have enough knowledge on how to properly implement it.
Q: Is this mod compatible with "this"?
A: Assume it is not, the best case, it might be if you manually merge things up.
Q: Is this mod good for someone who never played the game before?
A: Yes, though i would still recommend to play unmodified game at least once.
Q: Why did you not change the npc models?
A: I find new npc models really confusing, i never liked new npcs in any mod that introduces new models for them. Sidorovich's model is exception as his model is still vanilla.
Q: Could you make "this" or change "that" or add "something"?
A: No, I am not taking any requests. Unless you are asking for a bug fix that was caused by me.
Q: Why the OWR3 l85 model was changed?
A: OWR's l85 model was broken, i had to replace it with one from SRAP, randomly the l85 would spawn with almost 8 thousand bullets in the mag. Additionally, it didn't have possibility to mount GL so that's why it was changed (and there is no other nice l85 model that i could find).
Here is a quite long unscripted video of me playing the game with mod.
All praise the wall of text!
Congratulations! You've made it to the end. Here is an invisible cookie as a reward. →( )←
I have begun finalizing vanilla stalker overhaul, it will take me some time but you can expect it this July.

Hello, think you could make the LR300 as a standalone weapon to replace the OWR LR300? (Which is not really a lr300)
Like he said in the description, he's not taking requests...

Hi Kardiofatim, may I inquire as to whether it is within your capabilities to create a patch for VSO with these three mods which are Moddb.com and/or Moddb.com? Additionally and finally, this Moddb.com as well?
Mr. Kardiofatim troubling you yet again, I would really like to change the alife "switch_distance" to a higher value but the "alife.ltx" file is missing in "gamedata\configs\". There is a file "alife.ltx.original" in the "config\optional" folder, changing the settings there shouldnt work, right? I also did try the "modifier.exe" in the "gamedata" folder but it says an error of not finding any alife.ltx file. I suppose VSO uses the games alife settings contained in the alife.ltx file in the gamedata.db files, right? Would using the STALKER Extractor tool and make changes to alife.ltx after that, would that work? Or is there another way?
Thank you.
There are two things you can do:
1. Open modifier.exe → Select second to last option (tweaks.cfg) → select *install alife.ltx* → select "copy alife.ltx.original to alife.ltx" → apply → open it and modify to desired distance → save | This should instal ZRP's alife.ltx file from the optional folder.
2. Extract original alife.ltx from the game using database extractor → paste it into proper directory → open it and modify to desired distance → save|
Thank you so much. May I ask if you play with the default alife settings or do you tweak it a bit? Do you have a setting for less stutter, I do have an i7 12700F if that helps with the settings...
Also, do you think increasing alife switch_distance to say 400 would mess with quests like "Protect the Border" battle in Army Warehouse" etc? Would you be willing to recommend a safe switch_distance amount please?
If the above is too much please ignore the post.
:-)
I've never played shoc on modified a life switch, if you want a safe value just keep it as it is or maybe don’t go over 300 meters, stuttering is problem related to the old game engine and how it loads up equipment of the npc’s and items in the stashes, the only performance boost i could offer to you would be that 4GB patcher, just patch the XR_3DA.exe located at bin folder with it, a noticeable stutter will happen every time when entering a switch distance of a crate filled with high amount of loot no matter what and the npc related stutters shouldn't be as bad like for example in Misery mod. And high a life switch will most likely cause quest related issues however i don't know if quests are triggered by being in the distance of the switch or a specified map location triggers.
Thanks for the detailed post.
