Platform is a deathmatch mod for Half-Life 2 which brings a new perspective to the gameplay. So far most of the weapons are the original HL2DM ones, though some have been heavily tweaked, and will hopefully be replaced completely in the future.
The mod features deathmatch and CTF modes, with dozens of changes and additions to the gameplay to accommodate for the platformer style. The video is a bit outdated and doesn't show everything, but I'll try and get a new one up soon - and the mod itself should be released publicly in the coming weeks.

It's been a bumpy road but the mod is finally ready for a first public release, and I'm aiming for next week. Here's a video showing how the gameplay's changed - the most notable difference is the addition of projectile bullets and some visual effects, though most of the work went into rebalancing the weapons.

hm looking funny :)
Great mod!Fun and in the same time offers a good action experience. It is not rip-off at all. What is next? Battlefield is a rip-off of Call of Duty because both games are in the FPS genre and you kill people? So many "smart" people around the world ;D. Nice work, cool mod, 10/10. (:
looks good
Sounds like a rip-off of Ragnarok, another HL2-mod which already implented 2D-levels and multiplayerfights. Do you have something new to come up with to make me wanna download yours?
It's a ripoff of RA as much as Resistance and Liberation is a ripoff of DoD:S (as a random example, since they're both WW2-themed). Fact is, apart from the 2D perspective, Platform shares almost nothing with RA in terms of gameplay - which is demonstrated pretty obviously in the videos, I think; especially the most recent one which showed one of the more major changes, moving to projectile-based firearms.
I found out about RA later on in the development of Platform but decided to go ahead with it anyway, since I don't believe that having one mod with a particular theme should preclude anyone else from attempting it.
It's the exact same game but with projectile-based bullets instead of hitscan.
Yeah, shares almost nothing with RA.
Yes, it's the exact same game. Nevermind the near complete lack of similarity in weapons, vertical movement, weapon and item distribution, utilization of suit power (something which is a major point in Platform, with players being able to pick different abilities for their Shift key - shield, cloak, sprint - different boosting perks and more) and even visual design if you want. (with regards to the maps' style)
But hey, what am I talking about - they both use a side camera, they're obviously the exact same game.
A plea to the next person planning on comparing Platform with RA: could you *please* try to actually come up with an argument before hitting the Submit button. Thanks in advance! :)
Multiplayer platformers werent invented by Ragnarok you know :P
I didn't say that they were invented by them. Read properly. And my question wasn't answered.
The look of this along with the 2d-Platformer-gameplay really impresses me and makes me want this.
Tracked!
