I've collected some of the most asked questions and written my replies here for newcomers.
Why I can't replace the 38 Revolver but only the other handgun and the rifle?
It's supposed to be like this, this was the only way to have a Limited Inventory System, due to the old and limited Max Payne 2 engine, so consider the 38 Revolver as your permanent backup sidearm.
Why the replaced weapon completely disappears along with all its ammo?
This is supposed to be like this, another limit of the MP2 engine is that there's no way to really remove a weapon from player's inventory, so the workaround I had to do was to remove all the ammo of the replaced weapon.
Why the ammo for my weapon isn't automatically collected by walking on it?
This is a compromise to have a Limited Inventory System in MP2, due to engine limitations the automatic ammo collection isn't compatible with weapon pickups, so you are supposed to press the Pickup key for every weapon, if you don't have it you will replace your current one with it and if you already have it you will simply collect ammo for that weapon.
Why sometimes the weapon that I pick up differs from the pickup prompt?
This is a known bug caused by this 10 years old engine, if two or more weapons are too close or overlapping the engine sometimes struggles to correctly show the right prompt for the weapon that will be picked up, the engine simply wasn't made for this feature and there's nothing that can be done to fix it, my only advice is to get used to stay closer to the weapon that you want and farther from the others.
Why sometimes when I pick up a gun my ammo amount isn't what I expected?
This is a known bug that happens to some people, it's not caused by an error in the mod code (it doesn't happen for most people, nor me or the betatesters) but it's due to the low performance of the end user pc or an incompatibility between the MP2 engine and the end user machine. The engine doesn't reliably execute the code independently from the framerate, so the lower the framerate the more bugs you're likely to have, and apparently on some configurations it just refuses to play the code as it should, either way there's nothing I can do to "fix" it because there's nothing to really fix on my side.
Why I lose all my painkillers after the Last Stand instead of just one?
It's supposed to be like this, it's another compromise I had to accept due to the old and limited MP2 engine, the code simply doesn't work if I remove only one painkiller. This also forces you to use the painkillers to actually heal you instead of considering them as "lives" like you can do in Max Payne 3.
